Okay, to be fair, I know these high quality plastic models are actually kind of expensive to make, but you have to be fucking kidding me! 150 USD!

And as much as I love art books I've never seen one with high enough quality paper and binding to be worth very much.

The making of DVD is a freebie, this costs very little.
Wow! That is so expensive!

I would like the art book - I got the Morrowind collector's edition when it came out (it was like $60 or something reasonable) and I love the artbook that came with that. And the soundtrack. Those are things I like - the extra things like the statue and making of video don't really do anything for me.

Not only that, I'm out of room for nerd stuff (or any stuff at all for that matter) until I get cleaned up and get rid of some junk.
Well, at least Amazon has discounted the game from $149.99 to $149.96.

Hate to break it to you, but PVC ain't all that expensive. There's nothing in there that comes close to justifying the price when you have some idea how much it would cost them to produce something like that.

I'm fairly certain the cost comes with the molds, not the material, the PVC melts the mold meaning after the first few you start to get a high defect rate and the models must either be cleaned up or you must replace the mold. This is why you generally have to remove seam sprues (sp?) from your Warmachine or Warhammer models.

Of course you could be right, it could cost like 3 bucks to make, my understanding is that it's more than that, just not anywhere close to an extra 90 bucks!
...
150 for what we get this:

bullshit.

if the dragon was metal. that would be a bit high but acceptable price.
is book leather covered?

The greatest cost for replacing the molds would almost certainly be incurred from time, rather than material costs. That said, I've got no idea how quickly a mold would deteriorate for a model that size.

Either way, if it's costing them more than $5 a unit then they're doing something wrong.
Whoa, they are doing an apple and charging way, way too much for this.
What's frightening is that they'll probably sell (just) enough of them to encourage such prices in the future.

That is so awesome! Not something I want at all (the books aren't that great - the lore is cool and all, but the writing isn't the best thing ever) but that takes tons of time and money. Just, wow.
I don't think anything else needs to be said here

This one is, as you say, insane. There's nothing there I'm willing to shell out an additional $90 dollars for. Most games can't get me to spend 150% more on the game. I buy too many games on limited budget to blow what amounts to 1.5-5 other games that way.

Also, note The Old Republic is doing the same thing. Again, nothing in there that bumps the worth of that package up an additional $90. This one made me a bit sad when I found it as there are things there I wouldn't mind having, like the music CD and some potentially nice in game content. At this point I'm personally not buying EA products, much to my grand disappointment. I was so looking forward to The Old Republic and Mass Effect 3.
The insanely high price of the collectors edition considering all the crap I got in my The Witcher 2 Collectors Edition is exactly why I won't be buying it.

I'll probably grab a copy of Skyrim on Ebay used or at a good discount.

Even the Starcraft 2 Collectors Edition was far more worth the price than what the Skyrim and The Old Republic Collectors Editions are offering for the content.
