Happy GOGday, Sinistar! I too thought you were here for a longer haul; the forum seems a natural setting for you.

It probably won't be a surprise that the game I'm picking as my best GOG purchase is Project Eden. It's a delightful game, but what makes it my perfect GOG experience is that I bought it, at a bargain price on sale, on the strength of it looking interesting, and then found it to be engrossing, exciting, and fun. It's old enough that the graphics are suggestive rather than cinematic, by which I mean that it engages the imagination in play, in the way of old games, welcoming you to be complicit in the adventure by seeing more than the parallaxed backgrounds. It's a game that I enjoyed playing, and it is always what I think of when I think of a game that is a classic GOG experience.

Consulting my wish list, I find The Journeyman Project there as a game I'd like to try. I've never played any of the series, and now that the first has been remade it seems like it may be time to get my, uh, mouse wet.

The biggest surprise so far has been Fantasy Wars. It looked like my sort of game, but I had no idea how much I'd love it.

A close second is The Longest Journey. Unfortunately, the journey was longer than my laptop's hard drive. So I'll have to get back to it. In fact, my wife was thinking of playing it as her next game after Dracula 5 (which she just finished), so I loaded it up the other day. I might just have to make a parallel save while she's playing it. :)

I don't need any games right now. Nor should I need any for a while. From a few purchases and a few very kind gifts, I'll be gaming for months and months without needing to add to my collection (although I just did get Eschalon. Man I need to not buy games! Resist the bundles!!!)

I can't believe it's only been a year. I feel like you've been here forever! Your generous spirit in all things gives a lot of light to the forums. Thanks!
Happy 1st GOGiversary, IAmSinistar!! You're one of the forum members I feel has been here a lot longer than me ;)

Probably the one I'm happiest having/getting is Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. It seemed like a legendary game on a couple forums I frequented. A lot of times a game is so hyped up but turns out disappointing, but this one has all the trappings of an addictive RPG. Without GOG, this would have been lost to time.

Not in for the GA but thanks =)
Happy GOGiversary, IAmSinistar!!

So, the game I'm most happy about isn't easy, as there are really many games here, I ached to play (or maybe play again) in a long time, that I finally get my hands on. But as still RPGs are (together with Adventure games) my most favourite kind of games, I wouldstay with one of the classics: Planescape: Torment.

One I would really love to play? As well not that easy.. but here i think, I would love to get my hands on realMyst. Especially the new MasterpieceVersion ;)
Great answers so far, and it makes me happy to see a number of games I love showing up as your favourites as well. Thanks for the offers to get me a game in return, but I just splurged on five more from the weekend sale, so I can't really justify piling yet another on at the moment. :D

We've still got about 6-7 hours to go in this, so keep the entries coming! And thanks for cluing me into games that I should be playing, I've already install a couple from my backlog for more immediate play thanks to what has been posted here.

PS - Thanks Treasure for doing your own gifting within this thread. Granting another member's wish is not something you ever need apologise for, and it's another example of what makes this community so great!
The games I was most happy to get on GOG are Baldur's Gate 1 and 2.
I remember some mates talking about the first one (about kobolds, in particular!) years ago. I saw the game in shops, but, although I tend to enjoy this kind of things, I didn't buy it. I was in a period of gaming lapse. Yet the title was impressed in my memory.
Years later, a friend and I decided to start BG2. I read the manual and was pretty psyched up. We ended playing it just once and then putting it aside. We didn't understand much of what we were supposed to do; it certainly wasn't a simple "hack 'n' slash". Well, in truth I would have liked to persevere a bit more, I was really convinced it was a great game, but apparently he hadn't liked it at all and the LAN was his, so...
Now I've been playing BG for quite a while and I am very pleased; I was happy to meet again the unforgettable Minsc with his little hamster. But I am such a slow gamer that it'll take ages to finish. And then I'll commence BG2... again.

The game I most want to try? The truth is, I have already all the GOG games I wanted most to try, therefore I'm not in!
There are games I would like to try very much, but they are not on GOG; indeed, they aren't available anywhere...
Thank you Sinistar for another exceptional (no surprise here!) giveaway. And happy GOGiversary!

Congrats on your anni! I thought for sure you were an older timer than that, but everybody looks ancient to us young 'uns ^_^

Not in, but I was ecstatic to see the D&D games on here. The why should be pretty obvious. My hard copies of the BG series...does anybody else remember the STACK of discs for that one?? I still have them. I'm keeping them so I can show my kids how long it used to take to install games, back in MY day. Yes children, all of this for just ONE game. And Lord help you if one got scratched.

IAmSinistar: And thanks for cluing me into games that I should be playing
Yes, I am loving this thread *bouncy* It's moving games up on my queue, too~! Got it marked as a favorite so that I can come back and read it at my leisure once I have a bit more time!

Not in, just wanted to say congratulations on your GOGiversary Sinistar! You're awesome, please stay. Stay foreveeeeeer. :D
A hearty congratulations to you IAmSinistar on your GOGiversary and thank you yet again for another amazing giveaway which isn't s surprise for anyone that knows you here. It is absolutely incredible what you have accomplished and contributed here on GOG in just an year with many wonderfully helpful threads like the Missing Soundtracks list and One Day Games to name a couple and not to mention the countless informative promo tracker threads including the highly popular Insomnia tracker threads. All of these greats efforts makes everything pale in comparison looking at how little I have contributed here so far in the six months or so I have been here so hats off to you sir. I very much hope like HypersomniacLive and foxworks that we continue to see your ever sinistarly generous presence for many more anniversaries to come here on GOG, probably the next one would be the First Insomnia Anniversary. ;)

I am not in but reading all the nice stories I feel the need to answer your great questions. Many years ago while I was in school a game caught my fancy called The Longest Journey and since this was the time before the advent of internet there were no means to acquire it unless through a retail store so I searched for it everywhere but it wasn't to be found where I lived. Then sometime later when I went back to my own country for college education I still remembered the game and proceeded to look for it in stores which I did manage to find this time but the price was way out of my range and also it wouldn't have been possible to run the game anymore since I didn't have an old Win 98 system anymore. Then by the time I was in university I found out about GOG and saw that the game was being sold there which got me excited but I was still unable to purchase anything online so I held off on joining GOG.

Then after finishing my Masters when I finally came back last year I joined GOG near the end of the year in November when the first insomnia promo came about, but this time my reason for joining was to support CD Projekt Red for being such an exemplary game studio that really rewarded their loyal customers without a slight hint of exploitation. So the first thing I did was to buy both the Witcher games during the first insomnia Promo and for the first time got into an RPG with the first game because previously I always avoided them for the huge time investment required.

It might seem that I have gotten side tracked with this story but the fact is that I had actually forgotten about the Longest Journey because it had been so long since I was trying to get it. So there was no discount on the game immediately when I joined but it was on my radar again and finally after a few months I was able to get the game thanks to the incredible generosity of Rohan15 in his pick a $9.99 game giveaway. That moment made me extremely happy adding the game to my library which itself was quite the longest journey, it is right now still the first one on my shelf according to my manual setting for all my games.

Just for the purpose of sharing, the game I want to play most on GOG now are the Blackwell games because one of the most important aspects for my enjoyment of a game is a good yarn and I really like the detective/noir setting. I have heard great things about the Blackwell series intriguing mysteries and also the fantastic conclusion to the story with the final game recently released. :)

The game I am most happy I got here on GOG is Deus Ex. There was a Square Enix/Eidos-sale here, back in February 2013, and I asked a friend if any of it was worth getting, and he said that Deus Ex was possibly the best game of all time, so I bought it.

I started it up the next morning, made some coffee, and immersed myself into the game. I had not played anything like this before. It was very excellent, the plot was deep and interesting, and the soundtrack was some of the best I had heard in a game. It also had lots of gadgets that was a lot of fun to use. I played through it, and then started a new save immediately after finishing it the first time, because I wanted to try playing through it again as a pacifist, try alternate routes, discover what I had not discovered the first time playing it, and so on. I will probably play it again very soon. It is one of those games that has to be played. I have recommended the game to my friends, but unfortunately it has been in vain because they did not approve of the old graphics :/

The game I want to try is Master of Magic. I play a lot of 4X strategy, and both TotalBiscuit and JudasIscariot have stated that the game is a genuine strategy classic.

Congrats and thanks for the giveaway!

The game I was most happy to get on GOG was Tex Murphy 1 & 2. It was my first GOG purchase. I bought my first computer as a grad student in the mid 90's. Didn't have a chance to play many PC games prior to that. Loved Under a Killing Moon and the Pandora Directive. Overseer was good as well, but did not live up to its predecessor. When I stumbled upon GOG, I was thrilled to be able to play the first two games in the series. The game themselves are just OK, but to see where Tex started and the how the series progressed was well worth it.

I appreciate GOG introducing me to games I would not have pursued/ found on my own. System Shock 2 and Realms of the Haunting are now among my favorites.

Not in for the giveaway, need to make a dent in my GOG inventory, but thanks! Some games I am looking forward to playing include Tesla Effect (been waiting for summer vacation), Deux Ex, Broken Sword 5, and Thief Gold.

(typos corrected)
