On the DLC for Saboteur (I loved the game btw), I have it and I turned it off, it was embarassing.

But I guess the point is....what happens to DLC or other downloaded material when the swtich gets thrown....

I had the misfortune to have Dead Island on Steam. I have played it numerous times and the game (reportedly a bugfest) has never caused me any problems, Steam buggered up my game saves twice and now even the game itself wont even start (not just for me, but for many people), in the end I got a cracked version and it works fine for me.

But it got me thinking about my Downloaded games, since then I have replaced my Steam games (didnt have many anyway tbh) with console versions, I feel better now that I have something tangible and not some imaginary virtual property.

I have a good few gog's, but they are mostly replacements for my originals, so if gog goes (hope not!), I'll still have most of my stuff and have to get my ass in gear and hit fileplanet etc. for patches.

But I wont be buying d/l games any more, as for DLC, well its minor stuff compared to the original games to me and its loss wont bother me too much.
So long as publishers practice unethical behaviour like this, they have zero right to complain about piracy, and I feel 100% justified in downloading cracks for all the games I own. To hell with these scammers.

StingingVelvet: On consoles? Of the DLC? Maybe, but it would be hard to get and use.

The PC version is fine btw, the DLC was on the disc.
Consoles? What's a "console"?!? :-P

Any fucking sales report in the last decade?
Apart from the single player issue, the multiplayer service lifetimes are also becoming alarmingly short. The servers for NBA 2K11, a critically acclaimed and best selling game, were shut down only 13 months after the game's release, forcing people who want to play online to buy the next annual update. This kind of planned obsolescence is really disturbing imo.

Ohhh - look at this, it was the first hit in google. Globally, there is one single PC game on top 10 sales, also for Europe and America - ME3... And if you did not already know this is the trend, then you have been sleeping for the last 10 years, or living in denial, or trolling.

So what? Who cares? Remedy broke even with Alan Wake PC after the first 48 hours of sale, The Witcher 2 sold more than 1 million copies (if I recall well) and it's a PC-only game (the Xbox 360 version isn't out yet), Telltale collected 3 million dollars in a few days just on the pledge of making a new PC adventure game (now they will support more platforms, of course), etc. etc. etc.

I - don't - give - a - fuck about console games sales. Every single game I could care for was and is PC-only, PC-centered or has a PC version to be released eventually. So....

You asked for a source for the claim that most core gamers play on consoles and amok gave you one. No need to get upset.

Well - it was in reply to your very own question:

"StingingVelvet: The devices on which the vast majority of "core" gamers game.

You asked for a source and it was given - and it was not fox news and it was the first hit on Google. Consoles are outselling PC games at the moment, and have done so for years., it is a reality. If you already knew this, then why did you ask? Did you not expect an answer?

You don't care, but if you are passionate about PC gaming, maybe you should care? You want to live in a bubble, that's fine, but ignoring it does not make it go away. So far you have not shown anything except being very narrow-minded, elitist and self-centred.

Sales data isn't a source, just a piece of information you can use to support your own idea and nothing more. I don't like to deal with these kinds of tricks.

"Core" games are being released and will continue to be released for the PC, even more than in the past if the current-gen consoles will continue to be supported by the Nintendo-Microsoft-Sony triumvirate).

Not OK. Bad service. Bad.

There should be some stipulation along with the all the other stuff devs need to do to get licensed on consoles that on-line service (if the game has online features) should be available for the life of the console, or until some crazy low user rate quota is met (like zero users for 1 month). But then annual sports titles do seem to get a lot of upgrades. If there is one thing I can count on seeing in a used games bin its copy after copy of "random dated sports game."

No one said we don't get games jackass, I said the consoles are where the majority play, and they are.

(P.S. The PC version has the DLC included on the disc).
Keep Circulating The Tapes! Remember what happened to Dr. Who when the capitalists decided they don't need the series anymore! Right, there goes CULTURE! This is a crime against humanity and they can legally do it!
