I think that this would be the appropriate place to post this thread, being a general discussion. I also realize that while not about games, it can potentially be game-related at times. I apologize for the seemingly random feel to this thread. But it's something on my mind that I felt like asking about.
The subject being: Singing to music while listening to it.
Do you do it? Do you like having people around while you do it? To that end, do you like there being vocal music in video games? Etc...
Personally, I love singing to songs I'm listening to. I just can't stand anyone actually being around, although I don't mind my Fiancee listening, and my cousin has heard me sing before as well (with my knowledge of him being present at the time, that is). If I have headphones on, I will try to sing only as loud as I hear the music. If I think the music isn't that loud, you can bet I won't be singing very loudly either. I also don't mind vocal music in video games, so long as it's fitting.
On a random note, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City is probably my single most favourite GTA soundtrack of the entire series. Why? Because it's all 80's music, and that's the music era I love best. However, it's probably not my favourite game soundtrack. That's a little harder to peg down...

GTA:VC undeniably has a kickass soundtrack. The only problem is that it's too small. That is easily remedied though. Using the MP3 function, I made a kickass radio station, featuring my entire collection of 80's hits.
I did the same thing with GTA:SA, only using 90's music. The built-in radio stations in GTA are cool, but do get terribly repetitive after a while. You gotta love Rockstar for including the MP3 option in the games.

Yeah, I definitely do this, and I don't care who else is around. I'm not a very good singer, though.
I do like vocal music in video games as long as it's fitting.

It's off topic, but having been brought up, I wonder if anyone else found the selection of music in San Andreas as good as the selection in Vice City. Personally, I didn't think it was varied enough. Much of it sounded like rap or variations of it, and the little rock there was felt like only a few good songs were tossed in with others that were probably cheap to include.
Then again, GTA:VC is probably the only GTA whose music I never grew tired of. I actually bought the soundtrack.
Back to the subject at hand. I am not sure how I actually sound singing, which is one of the reasons I don't like being heard. To my own ears, my voice sounds very different than what I hear in recordings of my own voice. That's something I've never been able to come to terms with, because what I hear and what others hear is so radically different. Even when I swear I can get my voice to sound exactly like the one in the song, I'm sure people would hear it differently...

I mainly listen to music without anyone singing. If there is human voices, it's either minor/incomprehensible or the song is possibly 'a capella'.
Despite this, I occasionally sing out lines from nursery rhymes or the odd 80's song while driving home. I would never expose the public to this though unless they are as bad as me, and my attempts at those 'singstar' party games ends up with a abysmal score.
additional: I tend to dislike vocal music in games. My mind focuses on what they are saying and I get distracted too easily.

I just wish that I could sing well. I also wish that I could practice more than I do (which is pretty much never), but there's always someone in my house with me, so I don't feel comfortable. As soon as I grab an iPod, I'll be practicing in the car for sure!

And yes, I do sing songs while I listen to them, it's just in my blood. I have a great sense of rhythm too (I drum as well), so I usually tap the rhythm and hum the melody, or maybe even some amateur beatboxing too.
My favorite VG songs are on my playlist all the time. Especially and now [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcOfTQvg48s]this.

I sometimes do depending on the songt but I've got no musical ability. In fact I have a 2 note range, on and off.
I'm not sure if its a sad indictment of my musical ability or a tribute to my amazing IT skills that I even SING in binary...

I sometimes wonder if people can hear me singing outside, then I think it's best if I don't ponder that too closely. I rather like the girl next door, and I'd rather not imagine she ever hears me making a fool out of myself on the rare occasions I've noticed her outside.

I am a passionate singer, and I always sing when I want to. Now, I won't sing at "full capacity" when just anyone is around, but in general I don't censor myself out of any sense of embarassment or fear of disapproval. Hell, I think the most important part of singing is overcoming state fright, so step one of that process is to not give a *#&@ what others think about you!

I love to sing to music. The problem is, I really like listening to tenor singers... and I CANNOT sound good trying to sing that high. I can hit the notes, it just doesn't sound good at all.
My favorite musical artist is Elton John, and trying to sing to his early '70s material (when he was a tenor) is particularly difficult. Example.

Oooh, that reminds me of singing to some of his older music. Those were good times. I haven't heard much new stuff from him, but if it's anything like Madonna or Michael Jackson, it probably is just a pale imitation of the good old days.
