Interesting concept, Just depends on the way it's made and the way the gameplay works. If the gameplay and mechanics are bad, then its a no-go. If they are good however, The game will be good. The concept is very much Science Fiction which is right up my alley.
so:

"The game itself will be a hybrid of different genres, but mostly drawing from ARPG's and survival games. It is (free roaming? linear? quest driven? sandbox?), relying on quick combat and having some unique craft able (skills? spells?). It a fully formed 3D world, and it is primarily played in third person view, with some vehicle sections. The landscape is fully destructible, which can be used to a tactical advantage for the player. The USP is your characters ability to befriend enemies, and learn new skills from them - even gaining the ability to morph between 12 different forms. "

[insert concept art here]

something like this...

What about loot and upgrades?
What do you mean "loot and upgrades"?
Enemies drop items, though there are certain items that break if the carrier is killed so trade is the only way to obtain,

Your Psion-sword, Psion-shield, and Psion-tether are upgraded as you acquire Rift Energy batteries,

You do however acquire a variety of ranged weaponry, no gunpowder, but slingshots, bows, crossbows, blowguns, laser rifles, etc...

It's probably just me, but to me it looks like the concept artist designed all the enemies with giant smiles/grins on their faces.

C_Hillman: Don't worry about it, I appreciate constructive criticism and that is what this is, helping me to rewrite this so it makes more sense.

The only crafting elements are combining skills to make new ones (my fave is the 3-piece "Glass-Storm" skill :p)
There are 2 enemies that literally canNOT be beaten without the Fusion and/or Fusion Combo skills, but they wander the map and can be avoided.

The environment is fully destructible and that i in fact how some of the skills work, by manipulating the environment to handicap your enemies or help you.

It is 3DVisuals = Over the shoulder(Normal movement and combat), 1st person(ranged weapons), and Overhead(Hovercraft)
Action = Short and sharp, heavily reliant on player reflexes to avoid damage
Motivation = a combination of;
 From the start:
 Exploring the changes in both his/her person(the powers granted by the symbiote) and the world itself
 Finding out what caused the changes
 Making new friends
 Later:
 Defending those who cannot defend themselves, no matter the species
 Sending Demons back to Hell whenever/wherever they can be found

Weaknesses =
• discerning the difference between friendly, unfriendly, combative, fearful, good, and evil (some species can vary between multiple categories from one individual to the next)
• Environmental hazards such as temperature extremes and/or drowning
• Starvation (must eat at least once per game-day to maintain health
.
You CAN gain the ability to transform into 12 different creatures along with assorted variants on those creatures.

You have the option of gaining a single ally character, if you can first beat him in battle to prove yourself worthy.

It draws from several genres...
It is quest oriented but open world, with a branching storyline that is driving me crazy to write, but it means you can do what you want and have it effect how the story plays out much like a sandbox..

Anymore questions? I'll be happy to answer, I just know what interests me, not what interests you.
If you're looking for constructive criticism on your RPG, you can swing by the RPG Codex. I am sure you'll get all the constructive criticism you're looking for.
RPG Codex? ?_?

What do you mean? A bunch of rude jerks or just very detail oriented?

Anyway, the GDD is 290 pages(including bestiary) so there is a lot of material to go over.

They have a reputation for being somewhat hostile to things that don't fit their idea of what an RPG is. By all means post there, but don't get disheartened if they're dicks to you.
Rather hide-bound, eh?
The idea sounds interesting, especially for me that I like RPGs, I do have a few questions and are more like related to character creation(if any)/development

Can you customize your character?
If so, how much is customizable (besides skills).

How do you gain levels?
How do you improve skills?
Can you learn skills?
Can you choose your race?

Are there any towns?
Any dungeons?
Is it single-player or multiplayer?
Will it be a MMORPG?
Will you be able to import characters (like you finish the game and want to start again but not from scratch but using your previously used character?

Will there be different endings?

Regarding the survival part, will you be able to get food or materials from some of the enemies you killed?

A few questions? O.o
avatar
Mentao: Can you customize your character?
If so, how much is customizable (besides skills).
Yes but not much, just what clothes/armor you wear.

avatar
Mentao: How do you gain levels?
Fight.

avatar
Mentao: Can you learn skills?
Yes;
Personal - Learned at the start of the game OR from books and NPCs
Fusion - Obtained from bosses you have befriended
Fusion Combo - Obtained by combining the creatures Fusion Skills are obtained from (not literally, they can be sorted by creature obtained from, these categories are what you combine)
Psionic - Obtained when the symbiote is obtained

avatar
Mentao: How do you improve skills?
Depends on the skill set.
Personal - Use them
Fusion - Use them
Fusion Combo - Use them
Psionic - obtain Rift Energy Batteries (Experimental batteries made to contain the energy given off by the portals between the worlds

avatar
Mentao: Can you choose your race?
No, only gender.
Male = tank, built for head to head combat
Female = speedster, built for quick strikes and dodges

avatar
Mentao: Are there any towns?
Yes, this is our world about a hundred years in the future so towns and small cities litter the landscape. MOST larger cities are abandoned due to difficulty obtaining sufficient food for the inhabitants (The richest cities still thrive due to electronic vehicles)

avatar
Mentao: Any dungeons?
Yes.
avatar
Mentao: Is it single-player or multiplayer?
Single player

avatar
Mentao: Will it be a MMORPG?
No, but if the game is a hit the planned sequel is.

avatar
Mentao: Will you be able to import characters (like you finish the game and want to start again but not from scratch but using your previously used character?
Wasn't intended but I like the idea, I'll talk to the programmer.

avatar
Mentao: Will there be different endings?
Only death cinematics or victory. No continues other than restart from save file, so save often.

avatar
Mentao: Regarding the survival part, will you be able to get food or materials from some of the enemies you killed?
Yes, many enemies are wild animals, plus there are deer, various fish, turkeys, chickens, cattle, etc... BE CAREFUL killing TAME animals angers ALL NPCs in the area! Can result in a price on our head and bounty hunters after you. So can murder. (1 (or more) murders = you being wanted, 5 (or more) tame animals killed = you being wanted.
4 or less animals killed just ruins relationships with NPCs resulting in refusal to trade, angry dialog, and/or higher prices if they do trade.)

C_Hillman: A few questions? O.o
Yeah, I guess I did more than just a few questions, but now I have a few more (this time I think it is just a few)

avatar
C_Hillman: Wasn't intended but I like the idea, I'll talk to the programmer.
That said, will there be a level cap?
If so, how high?

I like that idea, having a bounty for your head, makes me wonder if there will be like a "reputation" system. If you can become a "wanted" criminal, would the opposite could also occur? (like instead of a criminal, you can become a hero depending on the quest you finish or how you finish it)

I'm just asking, doesn't really need to be like that because I understand that changes to the original idea usually causes delays.
