I was informed of Steam drastically dropping its prices on the two Oddworld games. They dropped them from $9.99 to $2.50! Sorry Steam, but no matter how much you try, I won't buy games from you.
http://store.steampowered.com/search/?term=oddworld.
Weekend sales. They're doing it on indie titles this week as well, which I might of explored if not purchased this weeks DVDs and games already. Plus, a large amount was released, making it hard to track on the main steam store page. The more I see slower, planned release schedules, the more I appreciate them.
$2.50 for those who only use Steam is quite a bargin.
i don't have the gog versions, but I consider them to be two different products and I'll buy the steam version, if I like it, I'll buy the GOG version as well for the additional materials
I was briefly annoyed that I spent much more on the GOG versions a few weeks back but then I remembered what happened when I bought Hitman 1 from steam, its pretty much exactly the same as buying off ebay, no compatibility work at all and I've got to use a time compression cheat just to play it at close to normal speed and I have to re-enter the cheat every single time I use a menu which is really quite annoying.
It may well be an anomaly (I tend to get them more often than not) but its completely turned me off buying old games from steam. I think the extra price from GOG is well worth it just to have a game I can play.
Steam and its weekend deals I am loving them. Sold.
Damn, they are almost givin it for free.

Free would be better...
Steam is ok if you don't mind the DRM restrictions, not to mention the fact that if it ever goes bust you'll have paid for a lot of software you can no longer use when you need to install it again or when you buy another computer.

They said that for Valve games they never said that for 3rd party.
Not to mention that this "promise" was made years ago in an interview and is nowhere to be found in the EULA, FAQ or anything even remotely official.
