I withdraw my candidature. Sorry for the inconveniance, but I'm probably gonna get a lot busy these next days, and won't have time to efficiently participate in artistic contests and since I'm a perfectionist I either give my best or don't participate at all. I chose the latter.

I did not understand a single word of the rules and what is required.

I have absolutely no artistic skills whatsoever, nor any software... However, Windows comes with something called Paint, so all things taken in consideration - I can give it a shoot (and woe to the person assigned on my team)

Paint certainly has its charms, and it has been used in my contests before (well, the one where it was applicable), if you'd like something a little more capable you can get paint.net which is both freeware and easy to use for such a capable program GIMP (common on Unix-like systems, also available for Windows) works too, but might not suit everyone.
Bumping this again for people who hasn't seen it yet.

Simple explanation:
Person 1 makes an image during 1 week, then sends it to me.
I send image to Person 2.
Person 2 works on image during 1 week (or makes another, relating to the first), then sends that to me.
I send image back to Person 1.
Person 1 works on the image (like Person 2 just did), then sends it to me.
...image bounces back and forth like the pong ball until I have 6 images from each team and make a voting thread for the community to let you score points.

Shame, thanks for pointing it out though (missed it due to edited posts not telling me there's new content in the thread).
I'd probably be up for this as long as I don't have a turn this week.

We haven't even started yet. Teams will be assigned the coming weekend (May 26-27), signup is open until then.

gameon: I have another question. When person 2 recieves the image from person 1, do they add/edit that pic, or do they make a new one from scratch to be in the style of it?
Either, as long as there's a thread connecting them.
Compare these two Layer Tennis matches: one depicting a story about a red guy and a huge yeti-like monster and another one focusing heavily on Nicolas Cage. Sometimes there's very little connecting the turns, but if you know what to look for, it's quite obvious.

Are tomfoolery and other forms of silliness allowed?

Certainly, the only thing I'm looking for is some connection between each turn, which is why the first turn kind of sets the theme (though depending on how each team member works, the theme may change over time).

In that case, I'm in. :)

Great.
For more inspiration, read this story about Britain, or watch this evolution of logotypes.

Or, hell, plow through the entire Layer Tennis archive.

gameon: Um.........................whats that all about?
It's where I got the idea of this contest (long ago, actually), but the Layer Tennis matches are just that, matches against each other (with 15-minute rounds, not 1-week - and live commentary), not against other teams.

Great. I'm up for it in that case.

gameon: We have 6 people now, so that might be enough?
It is enough, yes, but I'll wait until the weekend anyway to let more people trickle in (the more the merrier, at least for those seeing the result).
