Not sure if you guys have seen this, it's kind of funny.

I certainly agree with a lot of that stuff, though not all. It's definitely true that as I get older, I find myself buying more and more games, but playing less and less.

That's because we have more money, but less time to play games because we have to work to afford them. lol
Oh god, this is so true....
Ultra-awesome piece of work, espacially the ending section is great!
But I still don´t agree on everything. I still want long-time-gameplay...
...but please, only the REALLY good games should feature it. If a game that is around average quality features 75+ Hours, I´m getting as enraged as if a super-good game got only five hours of gameplay today!

But one bit is really true: Collecting games rather than playing them. But that´s definitvly an effect GOG & DRM-free gaming in general benefits a lot of, so I don´t think it´s bad at all... ;)

People supposed to read more in games as they get older? I've just grown increasingly annoyed at it. Story, quest drivel, tutorials, and basically anything that isn't actually playing, is now received with internal hostility. Any patience I had for gaming fluff is long dead.

These guys still look young. Give them another 5 years and they will be crotchety gamers like me.

Couldn't agree more. The older I get, the less time and tolerance I have for that stuff.

Have to say though that games have gotten better at integrating tutorials into the gameplay proper; at least on the PC.
lol I loved it. 4-6 hours of gameplay, crazy options for character creation, etc.
Part of this has nothing to do with being grown-up or not, but just with changes in the gaming market in general.

Not to be a spoilsport but is there actually anything in it that does have something to do with being grown-up or not, maybe apart from having fewer time (which is not necessarily true for all either)? I know it's just a joke, but if one was to take it seriously and wanted to find out a truth behind it, wouldn't it be more insightful to compare the habits and preferences of 'grown-up gamers' with those of young gamers today, instead of comparing them to our memories of the 80's, 90's or early 2000's? I'm sure in today's market situation even 17-year-olds could easily end up with a backlog bigger than they can handle. ;)

A sign of being a grown-up gamer could be the realization that you will kick the bucket before you can play through all of them. :P

Suppose the major thing I've noticed is games being touted (by the press and publishers usually, not so much the developers) as having entirely new or revolutionary features while in reality said features existed in games 15-25 years ago. Yes, they might have been implemented slightly differently or in a more primitive fashion, but they were there.

I realize this might sound snobby, it isn't meant that way. There just appears to be a cycle of forgetfulness or ignorance where every ten years something becomes brand new again. Whoever wrote the piece either missed the original game or is simply too young to remember it. Initially it slightly upset me since I thought it was false advertising, now I just chuckle and wink at the wall.. because the wall is the only one besides myself who find it amusing. I love my wall.
I can sooo relate to this... MY GOD! IM OLD!!!!!!!!!
Let's go throw rocks at strangers....

...oh yeah, that never gets old :D
Sadly I struggled to understand their voices quite often. But I liked what I was able to understand.
I think the Pokémon part was the best. ^^
Is people actually agreeing with and liking an IGN video a sign of getting old? Because I thought everyone hated IGN.

Also, the guys in that video are all younger than me and probably way younger than the average GOG user. They probably never sat at a café and thought "damn, kids, these days! Look at the mess they left this table in!"
