hedwards: I personally think everybody should play through dead money in hardcore at least once. The puzzles are fiendish at times, but playing through was one of the most satisfying gaming experiences I've ever had. The speakers, fog and traps were fiendish, but ultimately I managed it.

SimonG: The whole game should be played on hardcore. Especially the ammo weight really enhances the gameplay, as you can no longer just pick up everything and need to think about your layout.
'Cause inventory management is so fun!

We're not getting into that discussion again. I think I'm talking for everyone here at these discussion boards that we all agree on inventory management being fun. If someone disagrees, he may send an email to IP.Freely@gmail.com
I enjoy semi-realistic weight limits, though I like Borderlands "things" limits more than Bethesdas "Weight" system.

I like a good gun limit, like Mass Effect... it makes sense to have a limited build, enhances the roleplay, but in Bethesda engine games especially the weight limit is just a pain in the ass. It is far more annoying than any gameplay benefit it could provide is interesting.

I beat the game on hardcore but like a poster said above I would never do it again. All my subsequent playthroughs have been in normal mode.

Yup, played my first playthrough on hardcore. Feels more real.

Gazoinks: Rail Cannon (Project Nevada weapon). I was hoping he'd engage me in dialog first and say "You have betrayed me, cower at the wrath of Caesar!" or something like that so I could then take him out with a pistol shot to the head from point blank range, but he just rushed me with all his legion buddies so I exploded them with the cannon.
He and his 3 goonies 3 shotted me in the camp. So I went out and they followed. Took the goonies out 1 by 1 with my Sledge.

I'm considering doing a melee and/or unarmed build for my next character. It seems like a lot of fun.

I wish there was more melee based weapons for fallout...

My next playthrough will be unarmed, I played the whole of Fallout 2 with just my Sledgehammer and my fists.

Unarmed seems entirely worth it just for the Ballistic Fist. It's not the best fist weapon, but it's basically a shotgun attached to a gauntlet and is thus awesome. :D

And it glows, IIRC

I know but I'm yet to get around to modding FO3 and FNV, Are there any mods in particular for melee weps?
Actually pure melee/unarmed is a lot of fun. Doing a playthrough right now, going to join legion this time because it fits so well with melee character. Unfortunately, there are some enemies (mainly in the DLC's) that are a suicide when approached in melee (like uber deathclaws from lonesome road, 2-3 hits from them and game over, and they hit bloody fast).

I played a Legion melee character as well and found it quite fun. Got tiresome eventually running up to everything, so it was a quicker playthrough than most, but I enjoyed it.
