You can vote for it on the Community Wishlist. Not sure if they'll release it, but voting for it might bring attention.

I wish. So far, there has been no better American Civil War game.
It was developed by Firaxis and published by EA. Firaxis is owned by Take-Two, one of the last major publishers GOG is trying to bring to the site. So, I'm guessing that's the major hurdle - if GOG reached a deal with Take-Two it would be possible to see Gettysburg (plus the sequel, Antietam) on GOG.
Welcome to GOG BTW. There is no SMG here, yet, but have a seat and see if we can't find something to help you bide your time waiting. :D

I will have to beg to differ. Take Command at 2nd Manassas is the current gold-standard for a strategic civil-war game, IMO, a worthy heir apparent to Sid Meier's landmark game.

However, it'd still be great to see Gettysburg here.

Played the game(I actually own a copy because I'm very much into the American Civil War). I did not find it as good as Sid Meier's Gettysburg.

further to this, i would also add, that the scourge of war series, by the same developer is the new standard.

being sold at matrix games. the engine is not particularly well optimized, (its an evolution of the take command one) and can run a bit like a pig on some systems, but its still playable.
I'm still browsing the massive game list on here & noticed there are no civil war games. Hopfully they bring some to this site
No old school Civil war games either, like Civil War General, CWG2, Age of Rifles, etc. I have a few still on disk like the original CWG, but it just doesn't run on any recent OS and it's not a DOS game so no dosbox option.
I have an Alienware gaming laptop so none of the old civil war games will run on it. I'll have to wait till they put them on here. Battleground gettysburg was good too
