Hey all!

I searched a bit and didn't find this topic before, so I figured I'd use the opportunity to do something I love: Show off!
(Warning: some pretty large image files follow)

The Original Myst:
Unfortunately, I never much cared for this game. I tried getting it to run recently just for the heck of it, but turns out it needs some ancient version of Quicktime that won't install, and I can't be bothered to set it up on a VM.

The game box:

The goodies inside (remember when they used to give these?):

Contained the CD with a manual, a journal to write notes in, a strategy guide (even WITH this I didn't care for this game), and a postermap of the entire island.

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring:

Box with slidey cover, manual, CD, reference card, instructions to get it to work on Windows 3.1 and small map.

Unfortunately, quite a few of my games came with my soundcards, so they're missing boxes, but they have the manual and CD sleeve. I've got a couple more boxed games (Fate of Atlantis, King's Quest Collection), but I don't want to show off until I find all the parts (missing manuals, CD sleeves, etc.).

So in the mean time, show off some of yours! Try to do it with ones that are the most complete (not just a picture of floppy disks with a label on them).

The only real things I've got are
1) EA Cricket 97
2) Counter Strike (the first part, no CD just the box)

Note: sorry for crummy pics I can't find my camera.

EA Cricket 1997:

CD
Mine are all in the attic but date from about 1996 on with big box versions of PST, System Shock 2, Nocturne, BG series, VTM:R, Arcanum, Severance etc. to name but a few, I really hate the dvd cases nowadays or the most current d/l only crap.

Lotsa good stuff even some crap like Devil Inside (big box full of nothing).

Heheh...I'm from Pakistan as well, so you know I mean no offense, I'm just curious, are those from those little pirate CD shops? If I'm not mistaken, even the quality of those has gone downhill..now they don't even bother to print the game's name and image on the CD/DVD anymore.

As for the others, PICTURES!

Thats what i meant by 'real'. These are the only ones that are genuine. I didn't buy these, got them from my cousin. And yes it has gone way downhill ... I mean they sell DVD saying "GTA Compendium 2014" and you open it to get just GTA 1, 2 and 3. And you buy Need for Speed Carbon to find Crack files inside.

The best game shop ive ever seen was in Thailand, Phuket. Cant remember the name of the electronic marketplace - but there were plenty small shops and all about electronics/computers. So this one game shop had two separate shelves full of PC games - on top of one was written "PC GAMES" on top of the other was written "ORIGINAL PC GAMES".

Genius.

Oh wow good taste in games I have a few of those as well! (no Arcanum or Nocturne and I have no clue what Severance is?). I even have an XCOM box - not an "original" but it is a GOTY or "PC Classic" box; however it is still on 3.5s! Also have a Privateer "reissue" but that one is on a CD and oddly enough in a "mini" box - thinner and not as tall as a "traditional" PC game box but from well before the switch to those "new" small boxes, and of a different size. I also have a slightly mushed Half Life box, but it still looks pretty nifty! Oh, god now I feel like my father back when he'd tell me about all the great baseball cards he had!

Severance, it's called Blade of Darkness here :)

Nocturne wont play on Win 7, so hopefully it may come to gog and get fixed someday :)

I don't really have boxes anymore only jewel cases, or converted completely to either gog, or if I'm getting the game cheaper or free, steam for old games.
Boy could I contribute a lot to a thread like this, not that I necessarily want to go to all of the trouble...

But I will throw this one out there, the 11 floppy disk version of Star Trek: Judgement Rites: http://imgur.com/zqQsYnH
Here's part of my collection.

I really miss all the goodies, big manuals and of course the big boxes not only taking real space in your shelf but also giving you the feeling of buying something valuable.

Somehow I am far more conservative about spending money for dvd cases only - and do not even mention the price I am willing to pay for digital distributed games. Funny how I did pay up to 100 DM (~50 Euros + inflation) back in the days when I didn't earn any or much money as a child or later as a student while thinking twice about handing even 20 ,- for a dvd case or 10,- for a digital download. :-)
Don't think that going mainly digital download and having all those extreme sales on steam and other digital distribution platforms does really do the game industry much good at all.
