Fever_Discordia: Yes but as we say, then for Shadow warrior 3d Realms is suddenly the Dev and Developer Digital is the pub so that just makes it more confusing, not less!
Also Apogee made the Commander Keen games with the dopefish in which has then gone on to pop up in id and Ion Storm games so those guys must be pretty close too...
avatar
DCT: actually ID made Keen and Apogee published it.
Ah well that makes sence then...

yeah it was that little title that got them in trouble with their former bosses at Softdisk since they "borrowed" equipment from them during the weekends to work on Keen. Which lead them to produce X games for Softdisk which lead to Catacombs 3d, Dangerous Dave in the Haunted Mansion and a few other gems.

Maybe I'm still surprised at the thousands of complaints over on the Steam forum for that $90 game. Worst of all, the people posting that by charging so much, of course people are absolutely going to pirate it. And they're totally justified.

Jesus, what entitlement.

Well if I really wanted that game I guess I would pirate it too. There is no way in hell I could afford that much money for a videogame and if I really wanted it I wouldn't pass the chance of playing it only because of my wallet limits. Good thing I have no interest in it I guess.

well charging 90 bucks for a game, that would bug me. I wouldn't be making threats of piracy though since I always take that as wanting your cake and eating it too. I feel it's more impactful to just not buy the damn thing since all Piracy does is encourage them to take extreme measures like using more intrusive DRM.

Now when I see Steam and GOG users bitching about a release because they're just not interested in it and nothing else and things like that then yeah..that get's annoying.

Kristian: So yeah hype followed by a dissappointment is one of the only downsides of GOG.
Solution = don't listen to what they say.

I stopped listening to promises and predictions from game sources over twenty years ago, and I'm much happier. Forget about "coming soon" and focus on what's here today.

Don't see why. If you think a product or service is overpriced, don't buy it. How hard is that? I believe Ferraris cost a quarter million, but I don't hang out on their website bitching about how they need to lower their price or I'm going to steal a car just to show them.

There are lots of things I can't afford. GG has an Assassin's Creed bundle for $120. I think that's overpriced, so I don't buy it. Never hear me bitching about it though. The only thing I think people have any right to complain about are things needed to survive, like food and drink, and maybe medicine. Luxuries, like video games? Absolutely not.

Watch the free game be the original Witcher, which I already own on GOG.

That would certainly generate interest for Witcher 3 ;)
Omg I can't wait.

Crosmando: That E3 footage of the SW reboot was awful, looks nothing like original SW and looks it plays nothing like it either, not to mention the ugly bright color palette. There is nothing more sickening than seeing games which are about nothing but killing shit with cool gore effects have something as hideous as a "story" tagged on. The Rise of the Triad remake devs seem to know how it's done.

What is it with Americans and putting obnoxious stories in FPS's anyways, they do not fit FFS! Just let player kill shit and don't interrupt them with cinematics or story, that is the only good recipe for a FPS. If you wanna put a story into a game make an adventure game or an RPG.
It's not just Americans and FPS, pretty much every video game developer does that with pretty much any genre. There was an Interview (don't have a link currently) with that guy from Metroid: Other M who said that Super Metroid is a boring game where you just align yourself with the enemies and shoot and the only reason people played it was because they wanted the story. Of course Other M became such a disaster, you can find it in the bargain bins, next to licensed shovelware garbage. Or how about that idiot who's in absolute charge of the Legend of Zelda, who couldn't get past the octorocks in the first game and enjoyed cutting grass the most in a Link to the Past.

I know that, I just said 90 bucks would bug me not that I would throw a bitch fit about it.

Bloodygoodgames: ROTFL - yep, because you KNOW, no matter which game we get free if we get one, there'll be a bunch of people BITCHING it's not the game they want :)
avatar
BlueMooner: Whatever happened to the days of people being grateful for things they get? Especially free??
I just don't get it.

The amount of whining that goes on from some GOGers is worse than I used to get from my 10-year-old students.

And it's sooooooo incredibly selfish and entitled. As if they are the only person in the world that's buying from GOG so GOG has to make them happy, rather than the hundreds of thousands of other people who just happily buy without bitching up a storm on the forums first.

Not every game released on GOG or anywhere else is going to make 100 percent of people happy. Deal with it, as that's life.

Plus, I always think of the people behind GOG. Yep, they're PEOPLE. And you just know they're all excited about releasing a free game or getting a great new release for everyone and then must be so disappointed when they get the response from the bunch of ingrates that bitch on the forums.

But the whining? Highly highly annoying.
The customer is always right.
