I'd be less inclined to desire an additional forum, if moderators would put an end to the "this is gog.com" spam. I think it grows worse. And the replies to it more venomous.
Question / poll :

Would you like :

A: official GOG / CDP forum moderators ?
B : volunteer forum moderators ?
C : both
D : none

C : both

Hire a few GOG staff to be dedicated to the forums. To assist a volunteer moderation team. While also being GOG managements eyes and ears on the forums. To bring items of interest to their attention. To assist, otherwise occupied staff with getting a feel for the pulse of the community. To help funnel community feedback to the proper channels. And more.

I choosed that too . :)
As a long term poster, I would have to say, that I disagree. Then again, I also think that anyone who uses the general forum should have their maximum number of posts as well as posts within a thread set to show 50 at a time.
Gaming and Off Topic split would be perfect.
Until then we can add a label to our threads . For example Off Topic .

I'd add a generic tech questions forum to that. I think any beyond that should only be added if the need arises. Asking questions in the appropriate game forum tends to be a waste of time as few people go into there unless it's a particularly popular game.

I could see arguments for contests, what game is this and politics. But, I think adding those all at once would be a bad idea and really should be created if the need arises.

Barefoot monkey could probably make those threads disappear and reappear with his GM script.

Mmm Contest/Giveaways area would be nice - politics and what game are not needed (Politics are easily in offtopic,What game - gaming threads..)
No. The search engine should be fixed.

The reason to give "what game" their own subforum is because there are so many of them now, and giving it its own subforum would increase it. It's someting that's not technically OT, but it very quickly clutters the forum anyways and frequently they get answered within 5 posts.

Placing them in their own subforum is something that potentially makes sense. But, I'd recommend crossing that bridge when we get there as it isn't yet to the point where anything needs to be done. And separating out the OT stuff would really solve the bigger problem.

Politics, getting it's own subforum is mostly because it tends to get flamish at times and heated.

But, ultimately, without more moderators a forum split isn't something that's likely to work as the few mods we have wouldn't be seeing everything or even as much as they do now.

subforum yes... and to be honest it will be good to have 2-3 mods from EU and 2-3 mods from US to cover 24/7 :)

You'd probably want a few from Asia as well. But basically yes. AFAIK at present the only moderation is done from Poland and people still need sleep.

Mmm yes but yet I don't see that much users from Asia... it's mainly US/EU based forum... But yes it will be nice.

No, there aren't many as far as I know, but there's also the people in the US and EU that either get up very early or stay up very late.
