Last time I made a thread celebrating the loss of someone (who was a serial killer no less) I got shit beyond shit beyond shit. I certainly don't want to come off as disrespectful but this is a tough one!

Fred Phelps, founder of the Westboro Baptist Church just died.

Forgive, but I'm dancing here. I'm laughing and dancing and laughing some more. No matter what else happens to me today, it will still be a good day.

Let my derepping commence, it won't bring me down. You can't bring me down, not today! :D Fred is dead! Wonder how his family is going to feel when people show up to picket his funeral?

Never heard of him before today, big world. I'll read a little about him later and think about it. But from the look of his picture when I googled him he was pretty old so whether he was a good or bad person he managed to live a decent length of time.

Cant say i know the dude, but based on quick wikireading looks like he pretty much protested stuff through his whole life. Seems rather negative, but what do i know.

Wasn't it these guys who demonstrated at Heath Ledger's funeral because he played a gay man in Brokeback Mountain? Interesting to see if anyone returns the favour...

Phelps' church picketed all kinds of funerals, not just military... (IIRC always with 'God hates f**s' banners) and they applauded things like the Boston Marathon bombings, calling it divine punishment for allowing gay marriage. Can't say I'd celebrate anyone dying, but I will give two words for Fred Phelps: Good riddance.

I find celebrating anyone's death distasteful.
I suppose there is some irony in being distasteful about someone's death that in turn was distasteful about other people's deaths.
And perhaps there's even a lesson to be learned about not becoming the person you hate.. or something like that.

If the hell from the bible does exist, it would be extremely funny if he went there, after he died. He spent most of his life telling 99.9% of people they are going to hell and then ends up in hell. :P

On the one hand, I don't personally find pleasure when hearing someone who is generally vilified is dead.
