...got announced just a few days ago. I'm really glad they got back to the Japan setting, as I did liked it back in the first game.
With no surprise, it will be tied to Steam like Empire and Napoleon already did before.

LOVED the original Shogun.
Can't wait to get my grubby hands on this.
Yeah I've been salivating at the thought of a sequel for years now and even moreso now that I know there will be one.
A lot of people seem to have forgotten about Shogun: Total War, so this is cool. Loving the Art of War AI, will probably buy.
Definitely interested. Nice to see a geographic shift away from Europe, and the smaller scope of the game should give the AI less to be confused about.
"One particularly novel development is the introduction of hero units. These are warriors who have perfected a fighting art and can carve their way through enemy armies without much trouble at all. Based on mythologized historical figures like the warrior monk Benkei, hero units are a nearly unstoppable force on the battlefield, capable of holding bridge crossings against entire armies, or smashing through a battle line to engage the enemy general. You can counter heroes with the right tactics, such as filling them full of arrows, or by having your own hero units engage them in duels. The development team may even consider letting players use political manipulation to sway heroes away from each other. "
This sounds cool and deeply worries me at the same time

same... little un-historical but just imagining five of my top heroes slaughtering an army of peasants brings tears of awesome in my eyes.
I loved Shogun total war. I want to replay it again but I want the full polish version... the one with hilarious yet amazing japanese accented polish spoken dialogs.
Excellent! I loved the first one.
I'm also expecting this game; original Shogun setting+refined diplomacy=WIN (I hope).
Fix the stupid Medieval 2 Total War problems on Steam first, ffs!
Never buying any Sega game until they do that.
I think this part pretty much sums it up:
So I called Sega Support, they told me it was not their problem and to contact Steam.
So I contacted Steam and they said it wasn't their problem, e-mail Sega.

Is it the launcher? That problem has several workarounds.

But that is not really the point, is it?
Anyway, screw 3rd party games, I promised myself that I'm not buying anything else other than indie games, Valve's games, Stardock's games, and Blizzard's games. I'm pretty much covered with them.

The problem isn't with the game then, it's with the launcher not being able to connect to some old servers that aren't around anymore. You're probably getting annoying popup messages, just keep clicking them away and you should be able to launch the game.
I've been doing this, and the game itself works fine.

It's the same for me, I just ignore the popups and I'm set.
Frankly, I don't think having to click a few extra times to play is that much of a hassle, it's certainly no reason to throw a tantrum.
Back on-topic, I also loved Shogun: TW more than any of the later games, and I'll certainly buy the sequel if they solve the problems (especially AI) that Empire : TW had.
The reduced strategic scale (assuming they keep the map about the same as the original) should help with that.

I'm really wishing they focus on the AI, and all the different factions each having different behaviors/AI.
