So... Shank 2 is out now on Steam. Any of you guys has any thoughts on it? Tomorrow is my B-day and I'm thinking of getting it full priced for a little bit of cartoonish murders. :)

I enjoyed the first one quite a lot (though I got it through the indie bundle).

Looks like it's not going to be released in Germany. A shame. I loved the first one.

Edit: My bad, I can buy it from here, it simply didn't show up in the new release tab.

it looks great but i wont be able to buy it in the near future
The game is awful without a gamepad... first Shank have the same problem...
Depends how much content they put into this one versus the first that was... three hours long max. It was a nice Double Dragon clone but all of the boss fights were gimmicks.
Got bored about half way throug the first one so I will hold up with buying this one.
The first one was one the few games recently that I finished in one sitting. Looking forward to this one.
Ok... so I bought it.

Things I've noticed so far:

It's a smaller game in terms of size. I suppose game lenght wise it's smaller too.

No 2 player campaign, though you can play survival mode with a friend. Survival mode itself is interesting. Protect some boxes while killing everything on sight. Good for when you want to kill a bit without going through the SP campaign again.

There are less main weapons and you can only carry one of each type during the game. Throwing knifes, pistols, shotgun and machetes, chainsaw and a sledgegammer. Gone are the Uzi, Katana and Chains.

You can grab large enemies, finally. Grab an enemy at the right moment and you'll execute him with his own weapon or strangle him to death. You can rip some hands or legs off ocasionally.

Bosses are less gimmicky, so far I could only grab'em once during battle. The rest is just beat the crap outta them.

Shank seems to die faster too. I'm dying more than I'd like.

Cutscene quality seems lower and the art on them sometimes leave a bit to be desired.

I want to get this, but chances are it will be available in the next Humble Bundle.

If that's true then that's pretty sad. Looks like they're just selling a glorified multi-player DLC for $10.

They added co-op survival to this one that looked pretty complex from the video I saw. It's not more story but it might very well be more gameplay than the first Shank.

You realize that the irony of your statement is that most story-based DLC actually does cost 10 USD, right?:)

It's not irony when the base game itself/Shank 1 is $10. So it's basically: here's co-op DLC for the same price as the game.

Wait what? Double Dragon clone? Was that a joke?
Played a little bit more.

Campaign is quite varied, but the scenarios tend to be monochromatic. Also, it really is shorter than the first, I'm already on level 6 of 8 in, according to steam, 2 hours playing the game.

There's a second playable character, Corina, who inherited the katana and the uzi and also has a large revolver and a scythe. She has her own executions too.

There are these intel files you find on levels, but they are quite easy to find.

The first was almost certainly in the Humble Bundle as a means of promotion for the sequel. So until Shank 3 is close to release, probably will be waiting a while.
