Fuzzyfireball: You people act like that's the only 3D Realms/Apogee title missing!

hedwards: It's my go to game when I'm frustrated with my life right now.
Fair enough.

Apogee just has so many great titles that are oddly missing! Crystal Caves, Duke Nukem 1 & 2, Hocus Pocus, Mystic Towers, Paganitzu, Realms of Chaos, Secret Agent, Terminal Velocity, Wacky Wheels, Alien Carnage, Bio Menace, Major Stryker, Pharaoh's Tomb, Arctic Adventure, Stargunner, Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure...

So. Many. Titles.

I own CC, SAM, TV, WW, Cosmo.

But, Alien Carnage is freeware at this point so there's no reason for it to be here unless GOG wants to add another freebie for people making accounts. And even before it became freeware you could get the first two episodes of the trilogy free. One was under the name Alien Carnage and the other was under the Name Halloween Harry. Because of an odd choice, the trilogy was the same except the first and second episodes were swapped, meaning that the first two episodes were shareware.

I think some of the others might be free as well.

Alien Carnage is indeed freeware, not sure if Apogee owns the rights to the sequel Zombie Wars though, forgot about that one.

Bio Menace is also freeware, along with Pharaoh's Tomb, Arctic Adventure and I think Major Stryker as well.

I just listed them because they'd be sweet freebies to add.

I posted it because I love revealing freebies to people, and I'm not sure everybody that saw the list would realize that it's free. I made the mistake of paying for Death Rally when it's free.

I'm assuming you mean the DOS version on 3DR's site? Not sure why they still sell it when Remedy offers a Windows port for free. Never really looked into it.

Yeah, I kicked myself for paying. It was money well spent, but I would have bought a different game had I realized that it was free.

Right now I'm looking to see if there's a SW source port as the source has apparently been free since 2005. There appears to be at least one source port, but it hasn't been updated since 2005.

The only other one I know besides that JonoF one would be http://www.proasm.com/sw/

Haven't really tried it myself that much, usually just end up running SW in DOSBox.
Voted

EDIT: corrected, thank you Fuzzyfireball

EC-: Voted, though I wish Atari would release the source code so we could get a source port on the level of eduke32.
The source code was released by 3D Realms. Look up a couple posts.
I'm digging up this topic because.... I love SW too much. Keep the votes coming!

I only played the shareware version and i want it all - ideally "One unit whole Wang" Edition.

SW and Blood was my favourites Build games, Duke was third.
Every time a game is requested, it gets moved back in the line because GOG knows people will visit the site more often.

I tried that port a couple of years ago and played the game a lot this way. At least on Windows XP it worked like a charm for me. I believe the only thing that's missing is the ability to play the soundtrack from the hard drive (unless you create an image of the CD and mount it via a tool like Daemon Tools). That's the main reason why I'm looking up to a GOG release.

Edit: Dang, just read the port's FAQ. Apparently it actually IS possible to use MP3 or OGG music. But well, I'm still gonna wait for a GOG release. Might take months before I find my original disc.
