If anyone is interested in some fancy 2D shooties, Shadow Complex is up on the xbox marketplace.
From the demo I can see both the good and bad parts of the game.
The story looks like it'll be a cliche (I'm expecting the final boss to be "Dad") but not a bad one and it's told in a pretty good way for an arcade game.
The game is reminiscent of bionic commando only with finer control over your gun so you can shoot at the turret on the wall rather than the wall above it or below it since you're standing too far away for a perfect diagonal shot. The downside is that the gun is a bit weird to control, the right stick angles it and its nice and sensitive to when you want to shoot things in the far background but the stick is a bit... well... sticky, the laser sight on the gun tends to jump around between angles a little bit too much but that may just be my controller, its a wee bit dodgy.
I kind of like the torch revealing the secrets and the tool you need to get to them, it makes the secret less of a "where's that last collectible?" and more "Well how the hell do I get up there?" which are the type I prefer.
The boss fight with the IFV was pretty cool though the trick seemed to be a bit cheap, run into a room with infinite grenades to take cover when its shooting you, run out & toss grenades when its not. Not really BAD but not as exciting as it could be. I imagine later ones will be better, this was the first boss and I suspect it was more meant to wow you with size and novelty than it was meant to be a real challenge
Overall I enjoyed the demo and am going to get the game tomorrow I think.

Is this coming out to PC, too?
Apparently not, looks like a 360 exclusive so far but hopefully if there's good sales they might expand the market
Weak. It sounds like it plays like Abuse, and that means it's begging for mouse control.
Actually yes! Very much like Abuse now you mention it. Also sort of similar to Trine in a strange way
Are there statistics to show how well indie games sell on the console versus the PC? I'm pretty sure they tend to sell better on the PC.
Well, it sounds like fun, but I don't have a console, so I shall have to miss out, I guess.
Hey, I just bought a pre-owned 360! I'll have to try this out when I get home.
Don't think there's been much in the way of info collected, about the only thing I can suggest is finding a multiplatform game where the devs have released the sales figures.
SC is developed by Chair Entertainment who are a console only developer (In fact tomorrow I'll have both their games) and are owned by Epic who have a stiffy for antipiracy and less respect than they should for their original home, the PC
Well after several hours playing, I have to say that Shadow Complex is pretty damn awesome.
*Minor Spoilers*
The story is still your basic 'everyman becomes a hero/one man army' thing but its still being told pretty well.
The set pieces so far are pretty fancy, you sneak through ductwork over a mess hall where the enemy are eating and discussing their nefarious plans, a boss fight is solved by flooding the chamber the boss was in and then you end up swimming though the now flooded mess hall which is littered with floating debris and drowned soldiers
The fine aiming controls are still a wee bit touchy but I seem to have adapted to them now so I can still manage to be fairly accurate
In summation, I'm enjoying it thoroughly and think its well worth the 1200msp
I beat it and really liked it. I think I may play through it again. I really want to reach level 50...
And by the way, the final boss isn't your dad. I was interested in reading the book that has to do with the story, Empire, but I heard it's crap.

The boss isn't dad? Wow thats a nice surprise since the cutscene when you get the pistol shows he's got this "fight for what you believe in" mindset.
The achievements might be hard, how do you go through the game with only 13% of the items? Suppose that'll just be getting the unavoidable weapons. Hope it doesn't include special weapon ammo and health!
I've been playing it constantly since buying it on Wednesday. It is indeed awesome, but of course it's more inspired by Metroid than Bionic Commando, which is a good thing in my book as I'm pretty crap at Bionic Commando:Rearmed. LOL.
I think the 13% achievement is going to be damn tough. Definitely involve avoiding a lot of pickups. If you check the Master Award screen in the achievement list there is one where you have to complete it with 4% items. Two words to that one methinks!
The world needs more "metroidvania" games.
I have a strong interest in this game, but uh, I vowed long ago never to buy another product for a system with such a short lifespan.
I'll just wait and hope it comes to PC, or even PSN if nothing else.
