crodgers: I have the SS first encounter and second encounter from here at GOG. I looked at the info for the other SS games in the bundle. they do not look anything like SS TFE and TSE. They look more like late eighties/early nineties scrollers - like Duke Nukem or Duke Nukem 2. Is that really what they are like?
One is kinda like a console RPG from the mid to late 90s, one is a shoot-em up in the vein of Contra (but with bullet hell levels of enemies), and one is a silly action-reflex game that was ported from Android / Apple phones.

I have no idea what that Greek Encounter is like.

They're like this on purpose, the dev teams were told to go wild with what they wanted to do, and they did so. So these are three (well, four) decentish games, but sadly, they're not very long, or so I've heard.

Bought the bundle and played Double D and Random Encounter last night.

Double D is essentially a 2D sidescrolling version of SS. Took me a while to figure out that Double D is basically 2D. Oops.

Random Encounter is a JRPGish version of SS. You move around on a top-down world map which may trigger random encounters which are fought out in the turn-based JRPG fashion. You issue orders to each member of the party during the planning phase and watch the enemies get decimated/dodge incoming fire during the 5 second action phase. I like it!

Haven't tried Greek Encounter yet.

Hmmm... Since I already have the First and Second encounters here on GOG, do the 3 remaining games seem worth the $5 to anyone? So far one person likes the Random Encounter.

Are the Windows versions of Random Encounter, Double D, and Kamikaze Attack DRM-free? IE, can I install them on several computers here at home (pc, laptop, kids computer)?

Anyone know what installs are available for the Greek Encounter?

Seriously, it's a below average Game Maker game. And that puts the average pretty low.

Kamikaze Attack is fun, yet repetitive both in gameplay (you kick things) and visuals (2 themes). Samples and music are ripped from the original games if you didn't get enough of them.

My universal gripe with the minor Sam games (except for RE) is that they all look as if someone is moving paper cutouts on the screen. There's nothing binding the image together, like lighting.

Double D was an alright, but in no ways outstanding 2d platformer. I would not consider it alone to be worth $5 though, as there are better platformers out there that can be had at a low (or no) price.

*edit* Oh my, the Greek encounter actually has the lowest score that I have ever seen on Desura. Usually people seem to be trying to be nice to the indie devs, by giving games that are alright a good score, and games that are bad an alright score, but the Greek encounter has a "mighty" 4.7/10. This can be compared to The random encounter, which has 6.7, and Double D, which has 9.1!

I think Double D is excellent, especially if you're a fan of TFE and TSE. Random is an interesting take on the formula; the battle system is awesome but the game surrounding it is kind of lacking in polish. Greek is pretty much a throwaway title. It's nowhere near as good as most of the Eric Ruth demakes.

Your reviews of the bundles (and others of course) are awesome and very useful for those having doubts whether to buy a bundle or not, so thanks for doing it. In fact, since there are newcomers every day, I think that whenever you review a bundle while it's being sold, you could/should post a link to the review for those who don't know about your site.People ask about whether a bundle is worth buying or not and whether a game is good or not ALL the time anyway.

Also, I don't think that the thought of you spamming/self promoting here crossed anyone's mind :)
