When I, as an individual who has a mortgage on my home, have a fixed rate amortizing loan on a thirty-year amortization schedule, and I send in a curtailment (excess principal payment that doesn’t pay off the loan but reduces the principal balance faster than scheduled) what happens to all the subsequent payments?

See! This is why the ridiculous load of bollocks AKA this rep system is a complete joke. Now we have "respected" rep trawlers now doing bogus f*ck^$g threads to award rep at random.
What a mockery, they can't even spell shenanigans.
Come on GOG sort it out, stop this nonsense, put a spellchecker in!

Hey, it's hot and I have a disability (called "Too-Lazy-To-Proofread") to fight though, I'm a damned hero sir (or madam, circle where appropriate)!
*sigh* can't we do anything about the resident flamer? I don't know, auto redirect him to ./ or something.

I think he has a point and you're not exactly what I'd call somwonw who has finished school, he has simply responded to some of your most ill informed posts.
Keep it going Clagg, as far as I am concerned, low rep or not you keep it real like Weclock, unlike hansschmucker who obviously thinks that freedom of speech is dead.

This is one thread, to see how much the rep increase was, I knew there was an increase, but needed to determine how much. I didn't feel like waiting for someone else to answer a question, so I picked the first reply. I figured it'd be the fairest way.
besides that, it still shows who is helpful, AliasAlpha is very helpful and I feel deserves the rep anyway. Despite my thread being completely offtopic and fairly non-sensical (I haven't read the whole question myself), he tried to answer very much in the spirit of what I was talking about, basically A for effort on that one.

Ahem. I have finished school and am currently finishing university (media/IT: as one of the best I might add). And I actually believe very much in free speech. But this is a private forum and and as such I believe that there should be minimum standards. And his posts are usually swearing and personal attacks and I'm definitely not OK with that.

Well thanks but i was really talking out of my arse, I know sod all about finance and could only make vague guesses as to the meaning based on interpretation of their arcane & intentionally confusing language. You know, like reading a EULA

my point being, is that you wanted to do your best to help. regardless of your actual knowledge on the subject.

If you had just asked, I would have told it was 10 and has been for a few days. There really was no need for using the rep in this manner. But then, it just further shows it's a pointless system that is best ignored =)

Well, I was watching the higher tier of reputation holders, and I had seen problems become resolved by them, within the past 24 hours of this initial post, and they were awarded +5 rep (I'm aware of this because both myself and AliasAlpha were looking to answer a problem and he got it)
thread in question, solution made decided recently.

Personal attacks? Really? Where? When? Have you got proof? "Private" forum? How is it private?
From what I can see he (or she) is brash, lacks tact but hasn't sworn or attacked anyone except for UK_John (who hasn't when it comes to him?).
I think your response was guilty of flaming trollism in itself and if he or she came on here now and gave you a steaming pile of abuse you deserve it after what you just wrote. You gave nothing to the discussion but posted comments purely to attack. You should be ashamed.
Or is it one rule for one and another hypocritical rule for you?

If you remember this thread - he definitely had his moments ... *sigh*

It's not private as in hidden but private as in not open to everyone. You have to register and agree to a code of behaviour (I seem to recall I had to ignore something I was supposed to read and understand). In that case, there's agoverning authority in GOG and populace in us. It's probably more analogous to membership in a club than just talking to people down the street.

The person I marked as solving it had 1 rep. When I marked it, it instantly jumped by 10.
But seriously, what's the big deal over how much you get? Why care so much? Having lots of rep does not make you a respected poster, intelligent non-spam posts should do that. Nor does it mark you as being more helpful than anyone else. For that matter, it's not even going to make someone a better potential forum moderator than anyone else either. So why care about it? This is not a race to max rep. after all.

The rep system as it is, is very mysterious, and to avoid questions on the subject, I have compiled a guide, a guide which I must keep up to date. If you read the thread, you can get my opinion on it as well.
