This thing is awesome. This thing right here.

40+ console games on the PC as an archival release. The menus are in your native high-def resolution and there is even a v-synch option. You can have the games play in a 4:3 image with bars on the side even if your graphics card does not support that. It has fully customizable keybindings AND controller bindings. It has 4 graphics filter options, including none at all. It has quicksave and quickload as well as hard saves, built right into the game.

It's just perfect. This is how you release old console games on the PC. If every company did this (Capcom, Nintendo, Konami, etc.) I would literally jump for joy, which would annoy my girl quite a lot.

If you have a ton of Sega ROMs on your PC I urge you to pony-up and pay for this release, it's really excellent.
It's a compilation of the Sega Genesis collection you can buy from Gamergates & Co or does it contains new games ?
So basically the same stuff sold at Steam and GamersGate.

Only with the games not on Steam.

Steam has a sale with 77% off on the Sega Megadrive collection some 7 bucks or euro depending where you live.
I'm kinda... an... emulator guy. I ADMIT IT. Come on, multiplayer Streets of Rage 2 with dudes all over the world is amazing.

And it doesn't include any Sonic-related games or Toe Jam and Earl. This boxed one seems to include those.

And the sale price on Steam is ten bucks in America.

Not having Sonic is actually a plus for me.

Yeah, it is everything they have release digitally in one box. Since the Sonic games and some others are not included in the bundles online this box is about the same price and has no DRM.

I don't care where you buy it though, I am just thrilled to see a company actually release good versions of these games on the PC. Most companies just crap out a bare-bones release that does not compete with fan-made emulators most people abuse.
Uh... but this IS a barebones release that does not compete with fan-made emulators most people abuse. This is just the games. No netplay or bonus materials.

Even the Xbox / PS2 / PS3 / Wii / Gamecube versions of these sets HAD EXTRAS.

Well I more meant it has quicksave, filter options and other such things. Many collections I have purchased did not, and Wiiware does not. I wouldn't know about the PS3 and 360 collections as I do not have either console.

As for netplay and bonus materials I don't really care about that stuff, but for those who do I could understand the complaint. In any case I still feel this is a collection of merit to be rewarded, especially since you should not use fan-made emulators unless you own the games legally in some way.
Does this collection include the ROMs in an accessible format?
I actually prefer to play old console games on consoles. Playing them on the PC doesn't feel right.
If you liked that pack you should take a look at the Irem Arcade Hits pack on DotEmu
Pack includes: Kung-Fu Master, Vigilante, Ninja Spirit, R-Type Leo, Air Duel, Battle Chopper, Cosmic Cop, Dragon Breed, Gunforce, Gunforce 2, Hammerin’ Harry, Image Fight, Legend of Hero Tonma, Mystic Riders, Undercover Cops, In the Hunt, Superior Soldiers, Blade Master. However no R-Type or R-Type 2 :(

Each game is a .pak file.
Does this mean you can extract the roms and play them in your own emulator?
