Good news, Sega has effectively bought Atlus. Sure, Sega isn't exactly most people's favorite company, but assuming they let Atlus just keep doing their stuff and making a profit, it certainly is better than any 1st party picking them up and forcing them to make nothing but exclusives from then on.
Honestly? There could have been much, much worse companies to buy out Index/Atlus. We can count our lucky stars that it wasn't Squeenix, for example.
I love seeing Atlus on games, they have so many games I enjoy, I hope they just leave them alone to do what they do best :(
Agreed, as long as Atlus is left to its own devices game-wise, it's a positive outcome.
Ha!
Someone should start a petition asking Sega to make them port their games to PC

For people like me who had no idea what Atlus does.

Yeah really. My only real complaints about Sega is that they aren't available here and that it freaks me out to see Sonic in the same games as Mario.

I'd like the complete Shin Megami Tensei collection on PC, comprising every single title from all the different plotlines. That's about a decade of solid playing right there.

Though in truth I'd be thrilled if they even just released Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne for PC. Well, and the Persona games...

I think it's very unlikely but I wish it happened as well. Unfortunately even if it did we'd never see it DRM-free if other japanese companies are any indication.
I'm cautiously pessimistic. mainly I'm worried that ATLUS USA will go belly up, Sega's horrid content ID matching will goose step further across youtube, and we'll never see another ATLUS game again on these shores because 'lack of interest'. I'm also worried of shelvings, like what became of Phantasy Star and Alex Kidd.
That's a good news! SEGA is pretty ballsy in introducing games. This is a good thing that happened today. I just hope this is another step before SEGA announced a new console and Atlus library will help it immensely.
This news would have been more warmly received if it was clearer who's at fault for Rome II and if it's going to be possible to fix that shit. But generally it has to be said that my respect for Sega is at a low point right now.
GOG should try to get a partnership with Atlus, as Sega has recently been focusing on digitally distributed PC games. Considering how Atlus tries to nurture niche titles, that should work well with GOG. I would truly love to play Persona 5 as a PC game.
Persona 4, Disgaea, I'm glad and grateful they did not let Atlus die.
