Disconnected: It is the exact same from the viewpoint of the developer. How is it unfair?Only if the developer is of the opinion that the products they sell are worthless, in which case they owe some money to the people they've defrauded.
You're either selling something, or you're not. By selling something, you transfer the ownership of that something, to someone else. It is no longer yours. Claiming you deserve a piece of the pie if the something happens to be resold, is a breach of contract, and closer by far to piracy than any amount of 10 year old bit torrenting kids ever will be.
If you cannot understand this, then I suggest you go see a doctor. If you just want to sucker people with inane sophistry on a BB, then by all means, carry on.

I had to actually reread your post acouple of times. Here is a tip for everyone: It is really easy to just post without thinking in a forum; don't do that it can make you look like a dork.

Interesting piece in PC Gamer this month (UK)
Basically the gist of it is that Specialist Games shops are rejecting more and more second hand games because of DRM issues.
Big UK retailer HMV has just launched a used-game trade in service - for every platform except PC, expressly because of the DRM problems with games.
I will quote the last paragraph of the article....
'DRM hasn't done much to curb piracy, but it's right on course to kill the pre-owned market. Given how much publishers have always resented the lost income it represents, you have to wonder if that was the plan all along.'
So - Second Hand : Death or Second Life of Gaming??
Looks like it might be on the way out so the question is moot......

So far, nobody has given me ANY reason why after I buy the game, making that copy of it MINE, I don't have the right to sell it when I'm done with it. Why shouldn't I possess that right, through a store, which is the same right I am entitled to with any other consumer product?

That works for piracy as well - "other people paid them already, no need for me to give them my cash".
Anyhow, not compensating the developers of the game you're playing is counterproductive. You like what they create, you give them money to ensure they continue to do so. That only makes sense.

Sorry about that. I was trying to respond to pkt-zer0's absurd reply to your post. I don't know how I ended up responding to you instead. Maybe if tags behaved normally around here, or GOG had a preview function, or I'd had more coffee, or a better brain.. Or whatever. My fault, but I was tricked, tricked I tell you! :(

For the hundredth time - they were already compensated. I bought the copy, paid the developers and now I can do whatever I want with MY property.

So? Let's suppose 50 people play a game, and only 10 of those are paid for. 40 people then played the game, without paying the developers even a cent. That's functionally equivalent to piracy.

Someone owns something. Someone sells something to me. Someone gets profit from that sale. Now that something is MY property. I sell it to whoever I like. I get profit for selling MY something.
The moment a game copy is sold, it is no longer property of the publisher. Ergo, if the buyer decides to sell his property he has every right to do so, without paying a cent to the original seller.
God, is this really so hard to grasp??

Not really. I'm just saying that developers should get money if people play a game they made. You don't have to agree with that, but you can still see how that's (not paying them, that is) harmful to the quality of games, yes?
