I was wondering if it is possible to use the scroll wheel on the mouse in dosbox. It would be very convenient for first person shooters.

I seem to remember using the scroll wheel in some DosBox games, but my memory may be tricking me--someone correct me if I'm wrong. I think DosBox itself supports the wheel, but most of the games do not... Mice with scroll wheels were not very common back then.

dosbox emulates 3 mouse buttons.
So that is left click, right click and scrollwheel click.
So no scrollwheel scrolling

I see. Is there no way of making the scroll wheel act as a key on the keyboard?
You can always use outside software to re-assign the scroll wheel to a certain key and then use that in DOSBox. But no DOS games support the scroll wheel simply because DOS itself did not support it since it didn't even exist back then. Heck, Windows 95 doesn't completely support scroll wheels as I discovered when building a retro PC.

Hell, Mass Effect 2 doesn't support scroll wheel, even though there's plenty of lists in the GUI that need scrolling.
