JudasIscariot: You know the secret effect, right? :D
Yeap. Doesn't work on me.
Not sure if I can mention DS games but I rather liked Phantasy Star 0 on the DS.
It's pretty good if you like collecting loot and stuff. The story kind of sucks but the gameplay is pretty nice.

I'm sure someone must have mentioned KOTOR before but I played it for the first time recently and it's pretty good. It's not the best game I've played or anything but it was fun. I'm not even a star wars fan.

Also doesn't work, those of us who messed with the code no longer have time to play the game.
Better try though :P

JudasIscariot: I was hoping to activate the hidden Deus ex effect in anyone perusing this thread :P

You know the secret effect, right? :D
I've been meaning to try The Nameless Mod for a while, playing Fallout right now though...
Ultima 2 had both space and time travel.

Aaron86: Ultima 2 had both space and time travel.
Well yeah, but frikkin Ocarina of Time had time travel!
Reading this really makes me wish there was a classic Fallout-style isometric Sci-fi RPG. Anyone want to make one? :P

That Hostile Takeover looks nice.

I'd really like Syndicate as an RPG too.

Man, this is depressing, barely any REAL RPG has been mentioned!
Why can't devs drop the idiot Tolkien ripoffs and create a sci-fi RPG? (Thanks CDProjekt for the "Cyberpunk" project).

Lazy guess is that ripping off Tolkien is easier to do. Your orcs are brutish, if not evil, your elves are proud, and your humans rule the world.

What do you do with sci-fi? You either come up with something original or you just rip off Tolkien again. The scales are also broader, which is why Mass Effect has the concept of a footsoldier finding absurd ways to shoot at Starships with his popgun. When you have a nuclear arsenal, what precise use is a a party of 4?

Not saying it's impossible. Just that it's more work. Creating a totally original setting is nearly required and, at least nowadays, that doesn't fit in with the rush schedules. You can't playtest and plot 2-3 years before you enter production, your deadline is in 11 months, hop to it.

But did Ocarina of Time have a spaceship and Hotel California?
