Zoltan999: One of the order of the Adeptus Sororitas, such as the Sisters of Battle, from the Warhammer 40K universe could be pretty cool.... Bit of work for the costume though....
That would be awesome - I used to play before computer games ate my life :)

HereForTheBeer: No idea and not in, but I gotta say: it looks like you're having a blast at your shows!
We are and it is so much fun :D

Time for me to up my game a bit though as Spaceballs was awesome fun but now I want more over the top stuff :)

doccarnby: You could always do SHODAN.
That would be amazing if I could find a way to do (plus I'm at the last bit of System Shock 2 at the moment). :)

Stevedog13: Are you looking for ideas just on costuming or for a whole routine? A lot depends on your personal style, be it silly and playful or dark and soulful. Do you consider yourself more of a dancer or a performance artist? At the very least I would say to avoid leaning too heavily on trademarked material, having a generic robot/alien/post apocalyptic raider theme will give you more freedom to express yourself.
I'm lucky, I get to do a very wide-range of things - everything from my deeply creepy Dark Alice goth routine to my massively slapstick Pervert Nana and Spaceballs routines. Christina Aguilera probably never expected anyone to use a track for dancing as a dirty old lady to. I hope she's pleased XD

These guys are insane cosplay folks. This could give you some ideas, but as I said before, making something this elaborate would be way too time consuming. But I am sure based on your previous performances, some great inspiration can be found here, none-the-less. Ohh, and since you posted this request here for ideas, you realize you must now show us what the end result is, right? ;) Best of luck in whatever you do, looks like it will be a fun show, regardless of your choice
Red Dwarf cat dance — there are no limits! :-)
GO DOWN THE B-MOVIE ROUTE!

(not in btw)
Remember the awkward, repetitive dancing in Mass Effect 1? Doing that would be hilarious if done briefly as part of a larger routine. :)
You could do Terminator going from robot to human disguise.
Another idea could be Samus Aran.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aya_Brea

Aya Brea from the Parasite Eve series.

You can find more images of her costumes all over the net.

Also, the costumes are not too hard to make.

I have a cosplay of hers already from a Multiplay festival I went too :)

Tongue-tied? That would be immense!

Which one? There are so many and they are soooo awful yet so good. And no, Human Centipede is barred. :P

Hmmm, that may become an honourable mention...

There are always the Final Fantasy games. Both FF7 and FF8 have great female characters.

How about (Matrix)? Or if you want something less cosplay, less centered on a particular character, maybe a subtler Sci-Fi-ish outfit like Carrie-Anne Moss' [url=http://www.imagozone.com/var/albums/filme/Red%20Planet/Carrie-Anne%20Moss%20009.jpg?m=1293196115]Cmdr. Kate Bowman outfit in Red Planet?
I don't know if it is technically possible but how about the
Human Popsicle trope. Character wake up naked or semi naked from anesthesia/suspended animation or cryogenic sleep in a glass "coffin", and then dress up. You can use smoke machine or dry ice to show how cold it is while at the same time obscuring how much the audience can see. What I'm currently thinking is Selene waking up in the last Underworld movie or Alice in the Resident Evil movies where she wakes up in a lab or hospital room.

swings_jo: Thought I'd post this here as it only seems fair - I'll be giving away a Sci-fi themed game from GOG.com to whoever comes up with the best sci-fi theme idea for my new dance routine.

Good luck and thanks for the help!
Ok swings_jo, was doing some net surfing this morning while watching the snow fall here, and came across this. This is some 40K art, that will fit your needs perfectly, if you're going that route. If I'm not mistaken, they are from left to right: Inquisitorial Penitent, Seraphim, Sister Repentia, Inquisitor, and Battle Sister. These somewhat "sexxed up" incarnations are quite a bit more suited to your needs I would say ;-)
Something based on the movie "Machete Kills Again... In Space!"

high rated
I'd love to see a Fallout 2 themed Burlesque with the theme song "A Kiss To Build A Dream On" (Louis Armstrong).

Maybe the audience who'll get it is a bit selected, but isn't it always with anything apart from mainstream sci-fi.
