Not familiar with that tablet. What is the OS? Is it Android?

...you're talking about a convertible notebook, right? You don't mean a tablet like the ThinkPad Tablet or the iPad. If it's a school machine, chances are it's locked down and your privileges are restricted. Beyond that, I can't rightly say.

That is a ThinkPad tablet. Lenovo bought out the rights to the Thinkpad trademark a couple years back. I've got a non-tablet Thinkpad and it's quite nice. But, it's not one of the tablets.

The machine number/name kind of threw me a curve ball because I wondered if he was talking about a machine like (e.g. a Lenovo laptop running Windows which had a swivelling screen and could be turned into a tablet), vs. a machine like [url=http://www.lenovo.com/products/us/tablet/thinkpad/]this which actually was a Lenovo ThinkPad-branded tablet running some version of Android.

Download and install it on USB-stick (there are manuals on the website), then boot from it and choose NT password and registry editor. Reset administrator password, reboot to Windows, login as administrator (don't forget to activate appropriate account) and install everything you want.

The only problem which can appear is blocked booting from USB in BIOS.

Speaking as an IT professional, if one of our users did that with one of our computers they would almost certainly be fired... Depends on the terms of the deal he's got I suppose but doubt his school would be impressed. If it's locked down, it's been done for a reason.

Way to get the kid kicked outta school and arrested for hacking!
Dude, remember that most educational institutes have restrictions regarding their machines. Whatever they've given you IS NOT YOURS and you will give it back at some point.

using reply so you actually see this.

The laptop isn't yours anything you do to use an actual install program on it would at best get the laptop taken away and at worse end you in court.
That said Dosbox using games can be installed on a computer then transfered onto the desktop, your problem is your agreement with the ICE probably says your not allowed to do that.
I think you guys may be jumping to conclusions about the ownership of the device. He just says he's a student there, he doesn't say that they own the tablet.

I personally use a business laptop, but mostly because it's higher quality than the consumer ones.

That's the thing - I don't think he actually owns the machine (from what I gather ICE is a national program by the Australian government) so tinkering with it to do stuff like install games would generally be a Bad Idea.

It comes with USB ports, so at least you should be able to play games that use DOSBOX. Install the games to a thumb drive and you've just made them portable for use on most computers you'll encounter.

Happy gaming, and good luck in school.
I'm sorry for what I've wrote at first.
I use to have conversations with people who are responsible for what they're doing.
Anyway, I didn't know that what I've described could be a reason for being arrested anywhere. Is it so?
