What day of the week is it again?

If you buy a game and the next day it goes on sale, that is just tough shit. It's life and you have to deal with it. I don't think it should be an option. :)

I bought BG1 for $10 or so, BG2 for $40, BG1+2+exp+IWD1+2+exp for $20 and then bought the DnD pack for, I think, $18+.

I've rarely spent such good money in gaming.

I don't even know if such a thing exists here. The concept of getting money back when something goes on sale after you bought it is new to me personally.
I agree with you, it's just that the term "whine" did seem a bit negative.

I agree with all the others, saying that it's just bad luck. Physical stores don't offer reimbursements AFAIK, though I've never brought a cucumber back because it was 20% cheaper the next week :)

Also, I really like how the OP has reacted to most of the posts and not turned the thread into a flame war - happens faaar too often...

You all make very good points. As I said before, my frustration will not hold me back from purchasing, as I am clearly just "whining" because of my north american entitlement. Reimbursement is common practice in Canada to entice the consumer to buy the product now and the company will reimburse you "just in case". This way it does not prevent revenue. But all in all, I can get over it. It was $20 well spent any way you look at it. Thanks for a good response.

BTW, I was kidding about the "whining" part. I was not offended. I can see why it would come off that way, although it was not my intention.

I live on the border with Canada and you are by far the most respectful country on this continent so don't sweat the entitlement thing. :D

I'm curious what game vendors offer this type of price protection. Maybe places like Best Buy or Future Shop? But I'm thinking that's only for console titles. I'm not aware of any shop that offers price protection on PC games, especially digital vendors.

That about sums it up. Just decide for yourself whether the price seems fair at the time of purchase, and then enjoy your games. There's always going to be a better deal, at some time or place, but there's no point in dwelling on that.

Well said. I remember that 5 days after buying Tex Murphy: The Tesla Effect it appeared on HB. I still haven't had time to play it, yet I don't regret buying it. I just hope that Chris Jones makes more games like it.

I see where you're coming from and I kinda understand it. I myself have taken advantage of similar offers (although in brick-and-mortar stores), but I don't think GOG is big enough to be able to afford such a service. Maybe once they've bought out Steam...

Interesting point, because yes, generally if you buy something at a store and the next day it goes on-sale, they're usually good about making it up to you. Of course, as tinyE states, don't wait a month.

I've found that just asking sometimes works wonders. Not everything is set in stone, and stores are a lot more flexible than we give them credit for. It's just that the majority of people go in and get what they want at face value, so they (the stores) can afford to step out of the box now and then for those who request parley.

Of course, in the digital realm, with near-constant sales and, let's face it, pretty decent prices already, I can't see it happening much.
