My friend just got the 360 version from a pre-order, and we were messing around with it last night. There was a point during character creation where she was laughing so hard that she threw up. Literally.

So... I guess that's praise??

I found it to be about as fun as playing around with the old GTA games, not anything particularly special. Combat isn't all that great, although there are a bunch of crazy tackles and melee attacks. Driving controls are weird. The insanely crude over-the-top humor is mostly effective, sometimes hit-and-miss, but it misses a lot of little opportunities at subtly funny little details. Graphics are pretty.

I don't think that I would purchase it for full price, but it was fun. Keep in mind that this is from someone who hasn't played any of the other SR games, and it's only after 1 night of randomly screwing around in the city.

Every single new release we have to hear your thoughts and they are always the same:

"In my informed opinion this game has DLC therefore it is rubbish and you should save your money". Substitue Saints Row: The Third for New Vegas, Skyrim, Deus Ex: HR or any tripple A release this year. Arkham City is out on Tuesday and I fully expect to hear your thougths on that as well because I suspect they will again be copy and paste from Gamefaqs.

So you have played it then? Well first time for everything I guess. I've been playing it all weekend long and it's brilliant fun. Clearly you spent so much time looking for stuff to complain about you didn't bother to actually play it properly.

Plays without lag and is smooth on my rig on both Win XP and Win7(DX11). I can drive at top speed throught the city without any slowdown unlike SR2. Customisation is great as usual. Mini-games are fun and general craziness is still there. Didn't really play much of SR2 but I'm sure there's more content in SR2.

8 radio stations with a ton less music. (SR2 had 10 and SR1 had 12.)
cut Evil Cars and other cheats for paid DLC
cut Pimp Cane for paid DLC
no way to replay missions(There was a theater in SR2 that let you replay old missions)
no customizable walks
no customizable fighting styles
no phone numbers to call
no taxi warps
shitty 2 player co-op netcode
no multiplayer like SR1 and SR2
no in game mini games like Zombie Uprising or video Poker or Blackjack
whored mode is poorly designed unfun garbage(it could have been at least 4 players but noooo)

This is just scraping the surface. There is a ton of stuff big and small missing from SR3 like day and night cycles.

Not to mention all of the activities besides the Genki SERC activity are horrible uninspired garbage or just stolen from SR1/SR2. It offends me since I've been doing Insurance Fraud since Saints Row 1. Yet I would have forgiven this if they at least brought back my favorites from SR2. Like FUZZ, Crowd Control, Fight Club, Septic Avenger and Demolition Derby. BUT NOPE

No customizable walks...ah shit, better not buy it! Really?

ONLY 8 radio stations...oh, those BASTARDS! Not so much. Who buys these games purely based on the included music selection? Call me crazy, but I'd rather they focus on THE GAME.

Most of what you listed would be described by most people as fluff. It's nice to have, but it's hardly a damning loss if it isn't around.

Then you complain about the side activities as uninspired, but would be happy if they just brought back all the same side missions as in the previous games? Because repeating oneself is apparently the definition of inspired and new?

Saints Row 3 is fun for the same reason SR 2 was fun - it's a fun action game filled with ridiculous and over the top moments that isn't afraid to go beyond the bounds of good taste for laughs. If you liked that before, you'll like it all over again here. If you didn't enjoy the previous incarnations, you won't enjoy this one either.

None of it's a deal breaker and some of it is pure speculation.

For the record, the game is exceptionally fun. It's infinitely better than SR2 in terms of quality. However some of the choices will take a little getting used to, such as the position of the camera being so close to the vehicle (with no option to change it). But hopefully someone will find a way to mod that soon...

Oh yes this... The vehicle camera keeps snapping back to the default rear camera everytime I try to adjust it. There's no option to disable the snapping or change the camera of the vehicle. Really hope it gets patched or modded. And I use my Logitech Gamepad to drive too.

I was told the dildo bat is stiff in the 360 version but is floppy in the PS3 version, due to Sony being more lax on it. True?

The only thing I've heard in regards to that is that the Japanese version (on both consoles) has had the veins, testicles and physics removed. The PC version, at least the one I have, had not been censored in any way.
