Enjoyed all the previous ones, so I'm definitely down for this one.
The crazier they make it the better.

I loved SR3. But the superpowers in SR4 kinda makes almost all the vehicles and weapons moot. I mean why drive if you can just run. I'll probably wait for a sale or fold and get it next week, I don't know.

Yeah, I agree. Superpowers were fun for a while in SR3, but if they are available throughout the entire game it makes most of the traditional mechanics kind of pointless. I think it was a very bad idea to set this game in a virtual reality. It seems to create a kind of disconnect from the game world if the rules of physics don't seem to apply at all. But I obviously haven't played it yet, so I could be wrong.

Yeah, SR3 was amazingly fun until I got to max level and became invulnerable to everything then it got became somewhat meaningless. Luckily by then it was near the end, so everything was still good.

Yes, the ability to buy cheat codes in SR3 was pretty strange. It's nice to be able to upgrade your character in the beginning, but the game just becomes easier and easier the longer you play - until you become practically invincible, at which point it's no fun to play anymore. I'm afraid that all of SR4 might be like that because of the superpowers.

Is it that hard to ignore the superpowers, I would play it for the romance options ;)
Not going to happen...
Of course Valve/Deep Silver woudn't confirm though

There's nothing forcing you to purchase the 25%, 50%, 75% resistance and invulnerability to each kind of damage, nor the handful of increments to magazine size for each type of weapon (culminating at infinite). Though the game does like to remind you that there are available upgrades you have yet to purchase.

Those are upgrades, not superpowers. The superpowers include stuff like shooting fireballs out of your hands, running 200 mph and jumping between skyscrapers. And it looks like they are a big part of SR4 because (part of) the game takes place in the Matrix.
This game was made for teens just like SR3 . :(

Passing .

I interpreted the question wrongly then, as I saw no such things in Saints Row The Third which the question seemed directed at.
Fuck Volition. They totally ruined this series.
