Buggy-as-hell is to be expected from post-EA Pandemic, judging from Mercenaries 2 LOTR Conquest and Saboteur. What isn't to be expected is flat-out incompatibility with equipment they advertise for the goddamned game. About to be fired or not, they should hope to have a good product shipping when they leave so they can FIND A FREAKING JOB. They should be ashamed of themselves. I know that if I were a developer I would think twice about hiring these people.
It's not like Pandemic had a wonderful tradition of releasing stable, well designed games BEFORE EA rolled in either, TheCheese.
There are reasons they have found themselves in major financial trouble more than once.

I have an extreme fondness for the original Mercenaries and Battlefront. Maybe that's because I played those when I was younger, but I loved those games. I don't remember those being buggy.

Every PC game ever made by Pandemic has been rough around the edges and buggy, but I don't know about the console games.
In any event I don't blame EA for cutting a lot of them considering their output. Mercs 2 was in development for 4 years and felt like an early alpha.

Wishbone: Wow. Just... Wow. Talk about neglecting testing your software before going gold.

I'm pretty sure they were completely aware of this problem. The game was simply pushed out regardless of it in order to make the Christmas sales rush. Just another reason to wait a few weeks to see actual customer reviews before buying any new release, especially for November/December releases.
It works just fine on my 5970. Even works in Eyefinity 5760x1200.

It's not a for-sure error, it has something to do with ATI cards mixed with certain processors on Windows Vista and Windows 7 under certain condition.

I quite liked Mercs as well, and Battlefront wasn't bad. The followups...bleh. And it's not like EA rushed out the sequels...Mercs 2 had its release pushed back at least twice. The Destroy All Humans series never quite lived up to what it could have been, and again it grew worse as the series went on.
Woot GTX 295 here. Suckers.
That said, this is a bummer for those who paid a shitload of money on that new ATI card and they find out they can't play this game.
