acare84: But this game is using Steamworks for matchmaking and stats. I don't think they will use 3rd party DRM.

Sorry but like all new Ubisoft games even R.U.S.E. comes with the new and improved Ubisoft DRM. Check the store page:
"A PERMANENT HIGH SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION AND CREATION OF A UBISOFT ACCOUNT ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS VIDEO GAME AT ALL TIMES AND TO UNLOCK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT. SUCH CONTENT MAY ONLY BE UNLOCKED ONE SINGLE TIME WITH A UNIQUE KEY. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 13 TO CREATE A UBISOFT ACCOUNT WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT. UBISOFT MAY CANCEL ACCESS TO ONLINE FEATURES UPON A 30-DAY PRIOR NOTICE PUBLISHED AT http://ruse.us.ubi.com/"
No tutorial..no thanks. :P

PoSSeSSeDCoW: Ubisoft = No purchase

Ah, I had no idea it was by Ubisoft. I was really interested in this. Oh well, fuck Ubisoft, off to Isohunt I go.

Its got a skirmish mode verse an easy AI. I got my ass kicked but you can get the hang of the game easy enough playing against it. Its all fairly simple to figure out. The hard part is trying to manage all your army.
I think I'll give it some more time tomorrow when its not so late.
You an also download the manual from within the game, though like Ralackk said, it's easy to figure out. The only thing I wasn't immediately sure of was the whole Supply Depot thing, but aside from that, it was easy to discover just by playing Skirmish.
All in all, I'm actually intrigued by it. Now to play against some of those pesky 'real people'. :)
It's using Ubifail DRM? I won't even waste my time downloading the beta then.
Not for me. I'm terrible. I need to be coddled haha
Didn't notice a manual though, that's good. :)

Wait, it's published by Ubisoft?

I actually had some interest in this game :(
Ubifail kills another game.

Sadly, yes. Another potentially great game ruined by the stupidity of its publisher.

Not really. This is a largely MP game (from what I can tell), so you would want to be online anyway. So the DRM isn't THAT bad for this one.
Either way, it is your choice (that I fully support and also made) to not buy any Ubi games until the DRM-issue is resolved (for better or for worse). You aren't going to be able to just skip the games you don't like. There WILL be games you like that you can't play. It is not "ruined by Ubi". It is just "skipped by you to make a point".

Look at Assassin's Creed 2. Now tell me that wasn't ruined by Ubisoft's DRM. This game will fair no better.

Actually it is it runs on the same servers so if everyone is playing AC2 it will affect the server load when trying to play RUSE online. I'm sure the load wont increase that much as RUSE is unlikely to be as popular as AC2 however remember that the DRM acts independently of the MP servers. This i will not only increase lag due to the fact you now have two packets of data being sent and received by the same game but if the DRM servers lose your connection you are not only dumped out of the MP game but dumped right back to the title screen.
Then of course you can look forward to playing on the day Splinter Cell: Conviction is released.
