Right, I forgot about the stupid selling restrictions because I only played with Deidranna Lives and then the 1.13 expansion. I didnt even realise the scaling is that shitty in orignal JA2!
Man Bears Pit, nice, I love that forum, been there for over ten years, although I only tend to be active on JA2 binges.

Woot? Didn't your previous post say that JA2 had an excellent system? How did it just turn into a shitty one? Just because you found out that it does use scaling and not areas?
JA2 still uses the same scaling, since my modification isn't implemented (and rightly so, I did write messy code then). The same scaling is also used in the original DL and DL 1.13. Care to explain then why this sudden change in view? Or did you enable all toys in Bobby Ray from the start in 1.13, thus steamrolling the opposition?
Of course I did, I hate being restricted by artificial scaling, I want to be restricted by cash that I have to earn! But then I am big business sim fan, and earning money to buy better equipment is one of my favourite part of games. I just love gawking at the store and really getting fired up about looting stuff to sell for cash.
So I exagerrated a bit by calling it a "shitty system", I guess the player plays only a small role in the calculation, so its barely noticable unless you play the game multiple times in a row. And the way I read the code it seems to only kick in when you are really good at the game, which I am not. Hey, but at least we both agree that it would have been an even better game without that damn scaling, right? (dont deny it, you wanted to make a mod about it)

Opposite actually. I wanted to make a mod that removed the area part of the calculation and was only dependant on progress. But since I know people like different ways of playing, I also gave the option for the other options to take part.
And personally, I prefer to have a progression, going from Tommy guns to Commandos to AKs to G3s instead of going from pistols to G3s at once. But maybe that's just me.

But still, is JA2 a game with a good system or with a shitty one? Because before I explained the scaling part of it, you said it was a good one. Is the scaling so important to you that you wish to impose your opinion on the rest of us? Or even though it is important to you, we are free to enjoy games with scalings because we like them?
Without the player progress it would be a good system. But with it is is a "only mildly annoying one:, barely noticable, but still would have been better without, just like Wiz8. Same developer, maybe not a coincidence.

Thank you. I see it's no use arguing anymore, since any game that has a scaling system automaticaly becomes a shitty one for you. I will still defend each and every gaming concept that can improve a game for myself, even if I know that you will never be convinced.
No, not automatically. But it is possible that its so minor I dont notice it immediately. Your sarcasm is misplaced.
