Hello everyone and happy new years!
Sorry if this question is silly, but I've developed a soft spot for arranged royal marriages in movies and would like to find if there are games using it as part of the gameplay. The setting is really irrelevant, both sci-fi like "Dune" or historical (tv series) like "Rome" etc are all fun.
I'd imagine the genre "Grand Strategy" like Europa Universalis would be a good start but would like to find more (and possibly easier learning curve) titles. Does GOG have anything suitable in its catalogue?
Thanks
Royal marriages in games?
That leaves out Half Life 2 then, that bastard Freeman NEVER talks even though it's quite obvious Alyx is into him.
Sorry if that sounded a bit like something from Page Six, but I'm just goddamn annoyed.

Strange fetish, but it reminds me of Defender Of The Crown. That's not in the GOG calatog, but I you can play it for free on Cinemaware's homepage.
Theres a re-make of that available, no need to play the original.
For marages, you'll want to play Rome:TW... unreal game, not available on GOG although.
In Rome:TW the family tree plays a big part, picking who to marry & who to send in one way trips into war & ectra... all has a impact on what generals you have available to manage your citys & fight battles.
The learn traits as they get older, not always good traits as well as get followers that can be re-allocated.... traits are usually passed onto their sons, hence the one way trips for family trash.
Way better than CIV4 in my opinion. Easy to play.
Another one to consider would be Medieval 2 Total War. For similar reasons that bensmith gave, but with the added benefit of being able to directly control the princesses on the map and use them as diplomats as well.
Phantasy Star III used royal marriages a way of branching plot lines...
Some of the Paradox titles have that - Europa Universalis III: Heir to the Throne, Crusader Kings, possibly Victoria. King Arthur has marriages, but I'm not sure if they are the royal, diplomatic kind. And, as someone mentioned before, the Total War games have that (some of them, at least - Medieval for sure).
There's an option to arrange one in dragon age

I believe that is addressed partially in the episodes?

Yeah, in Episode 2, Eli basically says "You two should get it on now that you lifted whatever the hell suppression the Combine had on the human race."

No, but there was this ONE time he talked.

He tells them to "do their part", yes. They imply that stuff all the time in Episode 2.

Thanks guys and gals, I knew you could help me! Really great suggestions.
Yep, it's a strange addiction :) Tradegoods with built-in drama, if you will.

... That actually sounded VERY disturbing
Elemental by Stardock (coming out early next year), is going to have Royal Marriages playing a part in the game.

Not excactly royal marriages, but you can use arranged marriages as a tool for power/wealth/etc. in The Guild.
