I very much agree, and thank you. :) I hope I am alive to see the day. I was once in love with someone from another country after he came over to the USA for an amount of time and he was very much in love with me, but he and I ultimately ended our relationship because of DOMA and especially its section 3. He has since moved on, got with some guy who is local for him, someone he doesn't have to come out here every so often to see (the day I found that out was painful as all hell). I hope that a day comes soon that others are much luckier than he and I were.

I watched his speech and dont have much to say. I do know however that Im the only one who's gonna get screwed in the month of November.

You see Im an independent. I vote for both democratic and republican, though sway a little closer to democrat. However, my whole father's side of the family is crazy. My grandfather will verbally attack you if he finds your voting liberal in any way. Its almost to the point where he is attacking you for having a somewhat different belief than him. Its friggin nuts.
My grandmother is even worse as she is racist beyond belief and will start screaming if someone says they're voting obama.

No, I live in New Jersey and everyone on my father's side of the family think George W. Bush was the best president in history and that Barack Obama's birth certificate was photoshopped.

As a public figure standing up in front of a crowd and performing what essentially amounts to a comedy routine where he speaks in outlandish exaggerations while being his own straight man, hecklers make perfect sense. Now, all we have to do is get them into all other other conventions and public speaking events for every political candidate, regardless of party or position.

Let's see how "flexible" and "adaptable" these people really are.

On a more serious note, I think that treating political speeches as free-for-alls was probably part of why people used to be more invested in politics. I would love to see a modern politician - any politician - who could make a coherent point without a teleprompter.

If you watch his speech, he's looking at the crowd, making sure his eyes meet everyone evenly. He never looks in one direction for very long, meaning if he had teleprompter help he would be looking at several of them which obviously he wasn't.

Where is this teleprompter you speak of? That's like saying we went to ware with Russia during the cold war. Negative comments about our enemies supplemented by the idea we should never give in to them does not advocate war.
