How much -does- licensing cost these days? And what if the artist himself doesn't even own the songs, but the label company does?
What gets me is that I heard Michael Jackson was flattered his stuff was used and yet these assholes goes nuts. Not a big Jacko fan mind you but he was "The King of Pop" and if he's cool with it what is with these relative nobodies getting bent out of shape?

The record company was less happy though - it was the Jacko tunes that got ripped out of GTA:VC, even the soundtracks on iTunes etc!

well its usually jackassess who things their music is great and worth some jack's ass
Well, if he is the songs owner and they placed his songs in the game without his approval, I don't really see any problem. They should have offered him more and paid him or not use it.

You would have probably complained if a Rockstart composer hasn't received his paycheck because the game is doing him "a service" to spread his work after all.

Daz isn't a nobody... but yes I agree that getting upset over your music being used in what would be really the best marketing he could ever get for his music is just ignorant..

When did Jacko get ripped out of VC? It's in my copy and I bought it years after it was released.

And excuse my "relative nobody" comment. Seriously, that is something my mom would say and right now I feel like a perfect asshole.

It's not stealing, it's surprise marketing you didn't know you wanted!
>earn $1 bln in 3 days
>offer people whose work you use $4,8k

It's usually jackassess who think it's cool to take someone's work for free.

If they think it's not worth offering money, it's not worth being in the game, right?

Everyone who bought VC prior to the pullout has complete soundtrack. Everyone who bought it after have not.

And what's enough for him? $15.000 for two small-ass songs? I mean he could have said right at the time they made him an offer that aleast $5.000 should be ok, just to keep things simple.

I don't know how much is a song featured in a game supposed to cost to license, but I would have accepted $5.000 if I know I'm a nobody in the music scene.

Bad move on Rockstar but hey, they made an offer before stabbing him.

This is kinda different, because Glee is making song covers, which I think is allowed without artist's consent.

Crsldmc: snip
He might've said "I want 15 million, bitch", it doesn't matter. If they thought he wants too much money, they shouldn't include his song in the game. Period.

Do you honestly think R* would be so stupid to put a song in their game when it's not licensed properly?
