Huh, cool. Are the first 2 GTA games any good?

I played the shit out of the first one back in the day. Its awesome fun. (Its essentially the same as Liberty City, GTA III, and etc, simply seen from a topdown view).

The second one is essentially more of the same, though it added competing factions you could join. I just didn't like the graphx.
Haha yeah, the first GTAs were unbelievably fun back in the day. Good times. They feel a bit aged when you play them now, though, especially since committing crimes in-game doesn't feel as exciting as it did back then.

Good? Yes. But very unforgiving. Wild Metal is also a decent game.

It would be very cool, if GOG were to ever get these, to include the London expansion packs.
"GTA" was really something back in the day. I remember playing this on PlayStation years ago. So much fun. ^_^

The funny thing is that some gamers of the younger generaton thinks that the series began with "GTA 3". :))) They don't really care why there is a "3" at the end of the title. :)))

well i gave gta 1 a shot and it's really hard to play. I can't see in front of me, as i'm seeing stuff from above i can't see stuff that aren't really close to me, it makes driving at high speeds almost impossible, also i always get lost because i can't find a map button, I'm guessing the city is split into islands and there are certain bridges i need to cross to get from one place to another, I can't find those things because all i have guiding me is an arrow that shows the location of my mission. I somehow missed out on this when I was a kid but I have no idea how people played this.
GTA 1 and 2 are fine games. 2 especially, because it's graphics are not aged as much as the first game.
I don't remember if there was a minimap or not, but I do remember exploring the city, being amazed by the subway, gasping at being able to bash pedestrians, and becoming pretty familiar with the map.
No map in either one, however iirc the games game with a fold out map. There is no doubt a pdf of it somewhere on these glorious internets.
I tried replaying them the other day; the first GTA is still fun as a sandbox, but the difficulty of the missions is very unforgiving. I made it to the second city and gave up in frustration there. And yes, without a paper map it's barely playable.

The sequel is essentially the same with weird graphics; never really liked that one, I'm not sure why. The futuristic setting just doesn't work very well.

YOU MEAN 3 DOESN'T STAND FOR 3D ?? OMG AND I ALWAYS THOUGHT...

Just kidding :p
Just like a lot of kids think Final Fantasy 7 (SEVEN) is the first FF game.....Looks like the US education system has failed.

Back on-topic; Yeah, I have WMC, but the installer (or the game) won't launch correctly for me....I haven't touched it in a couple months....Anyone got it working under 64-bit Win7 yet? I kinda hope I don't have to go through DOSBox (I don't think it's that old)....

That's exactly why I didn't like GTA1-2 that much, already back then when they were new games. Interesting idea and all, but the topdown view was just not that suitable for the games. GTA3 just reinforced that opinion, the 3D third-person view was much more suitable for such an action game.
