Hello Gogmunity,

just saw the Risen 3 preorder on steam for 49,99€.
Well I love both Risen games and it was an instabuy when these titles come to gog.
Now the question, Steam... well.... i dont wanna you use more ;) (DRM, Pricing... you know the stuff)
What do you think, will it be available on GOG on Release Date?
I want to Play Divinity... you know this story too...

Greetz
Hard to say, I think if they were going to do that we would've heard about it by now.
It's been discussed on http://www.gog.com/forum/general/risen_3_announced_for_summer_2014 and as far as I know we've heard nothing conclusive either way.
I'm fairly certain the answer is maybe.
Your thread title seemed a statement, instead of a question.. :\

Err...eventually, I guess.

I mean, it only took three years for the second game.
Hopefully...
Maybe if we're lucky they'll delay the release to add GOG Galaxy support!

Thanks, dont see this topic, will read it after work ;)
The fact that the first two are here is a positive sign. And simply having a deal with Deep Silver is the most positive of them all. I would give it time and patience, and it will be here sooner or later. Whether or not that's at launch though is yet to be seen.

Deep Silver has a few series and titles I can't wait to see here in the future, such as Dead Island GOTY, Metro,2033 and Last Light, The Secret Files 1-3, and Sacred 2 Gold as well as maybe even Sacred 3 down the road. More the better! :)

right corner you can see the "DRM Frei"

Indeed, which is why I've preordered it (even though I'll likely have to play it on the absolute lowest graphical settings at 20fps on my laptop - it's more about voting with my wallet than anything). Also, the First Edition will include the preorder DLC already activated on the disc.

Although, after the Divinity: Original Sin and Sims 4 scenarios, where both promised DRM free retail releases and both went back on those promises, I'm going to exercise caution. It seems to me that advertising DRM-free while not actually delivering or only superficially delivering on that promise is the latest marketing tactic.

Also, it's not a given that the German retail version will be in English (although the game was developed in German, so if you can speak German, you should play the game in German).

Does make me curious why they emphasise that the "First Edition" will be DRM-free. Does that mean that later pressings will be Steam only?

First Edition is just PR talk for some Preorder Incentives as DLC.

Risen has the Core market in Germany and after all, the second game doesn't sell well. Germany is one on of the leading game markets in Europe but here Steam still is for many a nogo. So Deep Silver decided to try it DRM-free from Day 1, which is the opportunity to see the game on GOG - especially afer Risen 1 and 2 are already sold here. But after the known informations I am afraid, that Risen 3 will be just a mediocre generic game...
I think it depends on how well previous versions sold in GOG. The publishers want money... ;-)

Maybe, we'll just have to wait and see. Then again, Risen 2 was written off as mediocre, and I rather enjoyed it. Mediocrity is never really a problem for me personally.

But yes, it's certainly possible that Deep Silver are using the DRM-free angle to hide critical problems with the game. If it sells well despite the mediocrity, it might encourage other publishers to release boxed versions DRM-free. Risen 3 and The Witcher 3 are going to be critical litmus tests for a potential recovery (and restoration of sanity) in the PC gaming market in Germany. If it happens, I'll have a reason to buy a new gaming PC. If it doesn't, well, that's why I bought my PS4.

I'm more worried whether it's good. Risen 3 looks nothing like Risen 1 or the Gothics in general. It looks exactly like Risen 2 which is worrying. Whatever it turns out to be I hope to see it here at launch, if not eventually like all the PB games so far.
