SimonG: The worst. Kills immersion like some guy selling DLCs ingame. Especially if it is derived from a failed RTS.

Crosmando: Iso perspective in RPG's isn't derived from RTS, it's derived from the overhead perspective first used in early C64 roguelikes and Ultima. That kind of perspective is necessary for tactical placement of party members in battles, immersion should always be a secondary consideration when we are talking about games.
Why do you think the Infinity Engine is called INFINITY Engine?

Crosmando: You're disappointed with PE, which thus far is only a vague story concept and some lore, and yet you'd LIKE to see a PST sequel made in first-person?! You are a man of many mysteries.
Very true. I work hard to be mysterious.

But I think there's no mystery here. The information already available on PE makes me feel like it's not a PS:T sequel. PS:PB on the other hand, is. It is because there's no info about it beyond what's in my mind, and what's in my mind is of course a glorious game, a heavily story based shooter set an an imaginative world with amazing visuals.

Right now it's probably the best piece of entertainment I'm looking forward to after Peter Jackson's Amber Chronicles.

I don't know the history of it beyond the games, and I wasn't referring specifically to IE but to iso perspective for tactical combat, ToEE or more recently Knights of the Chalice being probably the best examples.

What do you think of the Realms of Arkania method, with first-person perspective for cities and an iso tabletop-like perspective for battles?

DCT: Decker is a Nexus 6 just the fact that Scott has made that official tells me that this "sequel" is going to be painful.
avatar
Toast_burner: That was made official a long time ago. The final cut made it pretty obvious.
I own the final cut in the collector's box set and it hinted at the idea yes, but it was always left up to interpretation till now.

I love it! Generally, FPP or at least, "behind the shoulder" at least. I don't want to see stuff that my characters don't see.

NOX tried the implementation with "field of view". But that didn't really work as well.

And generally, Iso is ok, if done correctly. Fallout did a great job.

But the Infinity Engine was horrible, imo.

Blade Runner is pretty much my favourite film of all time. So the prospect of a bad (it wll be bad believe me) remake/sequal makes be cry inside. Especially after the disaster that was Prometheus.

Also, Ridley Scott "confirming" that Deckard is a NEXUS 6 really annoys me. The mystery is better and to be honest, I always wanted to believe that Deckard was human, now I can't. :(
How exactly does a movie or game get worse by a sequel?

Never understood that.
Well, there is a funny dialogue in Scream 2 (1997) that deals with sequels. And Ridley Scott's name has also been mentioned:

I get depressed any time someone makes a horrible mockery of a Philip K. Dick story or novel, as he's one of my favorites, but to remake Blade Runner? This hurts both the PKD lover *and* the movie lover in me.
Change your title under your name dude, Carmageddon is already here with the expansion

Ths a big list that they can ruin, so there is still hope.
I actually want to see more Ridley Scott scifi and cyberpunk movies so i hope he gets to make those sequels.
I think Scott's been planning a sequel for a while, hasn't he? Incidentally, who else didn't actually like Bladerunner that much? Good aesthetic, but I honestly found it sort of dull. I also read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? first, so that may have spoiled it slightly.
