liquidsnakehpks: it will go @ 75% off three times at least on steam summer seal aka sales , quake-con event time, year end sales . i got the quake collection during quake con 2 years back , awesome deal @ 7$ but no quake 4 , this time the pack even has quake 4

I hope Quake 3's discount will be separate from the bundle. I have no need for anymore of id's (non-CKeen) games. I already have them all. I just need Quake 3 to be on sale so other people can play together.

No. It's different for the same reason why some players like VQ3, while others prefer CPMA, and competitive players rarely play vanilla Q3 anymore.

I've never played VQ3 before though, but having played CPMA, Q3 and QL, the differences are quite huge. It's like drinking gin, whiskey and brandy, then asked if they're different :P

-edit- So I realized VQ3 = Vanilla Quake 3. What a terribly embarrassing mistake >_>

Ahh... so this is one of those "Counterstrike 1.6 is WORLDS DIFFERENT than Counterstrike Source" sort of things. I honestly can't tell the difference between the two (part of this might have to do with the fact that my suckage level in multiplayer FPSs is over 9000).

What are CPMA and VQ3, anyway?

VQ3 is vanilla Quake 3 - as in, the game that you play as soon as you've installed it. If memory serves, CPMA is specially designed for competitive play or something.

Oh I was a hardcore CPMA CA playa/CTF hopper/dueler back in the day :(

Try Warsow if you're searching for anything like CPMA, it feels better than QL.
