Damn. I guess I'd better get my editing chops up to "Blindingly Fast" -- I like doing video reviews, but I only release one a month. :)
Woohoo! Finally won one of these contests (there's so many; it was only a matter of time :D). So, how do I get a hold of my code? Do I need to email GOG for confirmation?

After winning the contest a week ago, you still don't have received your promo code?
That's odd. It should have arrived by Monday. Yes, in this case it might be useful to contact them (either in e-mail or via the support page). Normally, you receive it without any confirmation from your side. (At least it used to work this way, and I haven't seen any indication it should go any other way now.)

Not to worry. I just got it today (along with another code from another contest :D ) and I didn't need to email them about it. I don't blame them; they must be swamped with all the different games and publishers they're bringing in from all over the place and, on top of that, having 4 or 5 contests every other week. I think a slight delay in promo codes is worth all the awesomeness they've been giving us these days. ;)
That'll teach me to check my e-mail more often. I only just found out I won. I didn't even know there was a contest. Wowsers.
Well, heck, thanks a bunch, GOG. Now I'll have to go fishing through the lineup to see what I want for a freebie.
I don't have a vested interest or anything, but why is this week's review contest blank? Debates at GOG HQ over whether or not to include Original War again?
Well, I understand now that it's not worth entering this contest ever again. Congrats to the winner this week and all; I have no problem with them, and I hope they get to pick up something cool. I do, however, have a problem with the fact that I played the game from beginning to end, wrote several paragraphs about the strengths and weaknesses of the title, only to find out I had just as much chance of winning as everybody else who wrote a review...and everyone else had the better sense to write a paragraph and get on with their lives. Again, no bitterness towards the winner, or any past winners...but why even offer people the chance to win something for a review if there's no incentive to write better ones, just writing more of them?
EDIT: The review was for ObsCure, by the way. Fun game, if you like survival horror stuff.

Indeed, that's yet a weakness of GOG, not only contest-wise, but the fact itself that some articles that are either of low quality, or are not even reviews (p.e. the "Price match" one for Arx fatalis- it's a heads up, not a review) can be found among the true reviews of a game. If I want to read a review of a game, I want it to be informative.
I hope one day in the (not too far) future they will have sufficient staff to browse through any new reviews and remove/convert into simple forum threads the ones which don't fit among real reviews.
Anyway, congrats to the winners! At least your reviews don't fall into either above named bad category.

Firek: The idea behind the Review Contest is pretty simple. Every Saturday we draw one user review each from the previous week's new releases. The authors of each of those reviews get a free promo code for their effort, which can be used to get any game in our catalog.
This week's titles and their respective winners were:
Enemy Engaged: Comanche vs Hokum - gogracoon,
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six - Bron.
...

Woo hoo! Thanks, GOG!
I never win anything, so a kick for me. ;)
Cheers!
Bron
I find it a bit... lame (for lack of a better word), that I spent tons of time writing my review for personal nightmare, while the person that won the free game wrote literally three sentences.

I don't think they choose the actual "best" review... It's a random thing, I'd assume.

So that means that from now on, people will just write "this a good game, must buy- now!" for a review and win.
