The idea behind the Review Contest is pretty simple. Every Saturday we draw one user review each from the previous week's new releases. The authors of each of those reviews get a free promo code for their effort, which can be used to get any game in our catalog.
This week's titles and their respective winners were:
Myst: Masterpiece Edition - mentat,
Tropico Reloaded - antihippie.
Next week's titles will be:
Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord,
The Manhole: Masterpiece Edition.
And the rules of the Contest are:
1) You're free to write a review for all games participating in the Review Contest event.
2) The review(s) must be decent or better. ;)
3) The review(s) must not be a copy of a review from a different website.
4) One winning review per game will be drawn from all applicable reviews written before Saturday 6:00 a.m. EDT,
5) You don't have to own the game at GOG.com to participate.

OH YEAH! :DDDD
One of these days I'll carve out the time to try to win one of these things.
Damn, this is the second contest i lose. So is this a random drawing, or are reviews are awarded points, or what? Im gonna write a review for planet strike, which is basically more levels for Blake Stone Aliens of Gold, can I submit an improved review of Aliens of Gold, with the additions specific to Planet Strike?

It's a random drawing of the decent or better reviews.

Were it not for this random drawing thing, I would have written a fair share of reviews for GOG on a regular basis. But since my luck is the worst there is, this will never happen.
Which is a shame really, because I had plenty of prior experience and this site could really use some more detailed and quality reviews.
Ah, bad luck, thou art a cruel mistress!

I've written all my reviews with quality in mind. I don't really like reviews that just say, "It's fun, get it.". I follow sort've the same pattern in ROTT/Aliens of Gold reviews, and hit upon pretty much every non-REALLY SPECIFIC aspect of the game.
I wonder why they're rated the most helpful, then? ;)

Thanks for the congrats. As one of the dudes you didn't know, it means a lot.
Jager: I never thought I would win when I wrote my review. If you have quality things to say about a game you should write them up weather you are going to win or not. I know I look at the user reviews to help me decide if I should get a game or not - speaking of which.... now which game should I cash my promo code in on....
