Looks like fun. Never seen so many different game references in one short clip before. Apparently the PC version is not far away, and you can now pre-order it.
been looking forward to this one for quite a while, was going to get it on the wii but now the pc version has been annouced i will probably end up getting it there
It's like every game I loved as a kid, just like nostalgia crack-cocaine.

I think the biggest influence there, is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles:

Underwater section: check
Similar music: check
Very similar sound: check
Top down city view: check

There's some Mario, Zelda, etc. influences too, obviously - but it's mostly TMNT. I like it though.

I will probably buy this when it releases.
Will buy from Gamersgate if it's Steamless, otherwise probably on the Wii (hooray Wii!!!)

From the pre-order page:

"Preorder Retro City Rampage for PC, right here, today!

The instant it's released,
you'll get both a DRM-FREE Version of the game & a Steam Version."

No idea about GG, though.

A very, very good surprise that RCR is coming to the PC, so many good games that come out and are exclusive to Wii or XBLA for example... I'll get it for sure. :)

Reminds me of the old days GTAs, top down shooters, etc.

Tim Schafer in an interview recently predicts that indies are moving away from consoles, so there may be even better times ahead.

"But the indie community is now moving elsewhere; we’re figuring out how to fund and distribute games ourselves, and we’re getting more control over them. Those systems as great as they are, they’re still closed. You have to jump through a lot of hoops, even for important stuff like patching and supporting your game. Those are things we really want to do, but we can’t do it on these systems. I mean, it costs $40,000 to put up a patch – we can’t afford that! Open systems like Steam, that allow us to set our own prices, that’s where it’s at, and doing it completely alone like Minecraft. That’s where people are going."

The man knows what he's talking about. That's the reason they couldn't patch PS3 Brutal Legend save corruption.
That underwater section is nearly identical to the TMNT stage on the NES.
