jamyskis: I was just saying recently that the way Dan Ackroyd and Bill Murray are back and forth with Ghostbusters 3, the old team will end up dying of old age before they get to it. A sentiment that I may now come to regret. I'm glad he and Bill Murray managed to sort their differences in time though.

Although he was actually more well-established as a writer-director, he'll always be Egon to me.

My condolences to Harold's family.

I'll just leave this here.
I'd heard they were going to kill off the old crew at the start of the movie and just start over with (probably absurdly attractive) young actors. Or perhaps their first task would be to bust Bill's ghost.
Ramis was a great writer, director, and comedian. RIP.

I agree. He will be missed. RIP
I was so saddened to hear this.

I know Harold was out of films for quite some time, but to me he represented the best of the 80's sense of comedy. Smart, sophomoric, slapstick, silly, and just all around feel good, while also tackling topics people might not have considered appropriate for comedy.

I also loved his deadpan delivery. Whether in Ghostbusters or Stripes, he had an air of intelligent alienation that always made me smile.

RIP.
Dang. Loved his work.
He will definitely be missed. I bet Bill is kicking himself for denying Ghostbusters 3.
Yeah, it made me very sad to see that he had passed, I was a huge fan of a fair bit of his work. I think I'm one of the few that loved Groundhog Day from the get-go, and Stripes was one of my other favourite movies with him in it. Ghostbusters just happened to be my favourite and I am happy that both him and Murray buried the hatchet before Harold's passing AND that they got one more Ghostbuster's story out of it with the game. While I'm not fond of the movie Orange County, I really did get a kick out of his part in the movie. Much like James Avery in TMNT, I used to watch Ghostbusters repeatedly; almost to the point of knowing every line verbatim. I am definitely going to throw on the Ghostbuster's movie and re-play the game as a way of honouring his passing.

Peace and Twinkies Harold Ramis, you wonderful SOB. :)

Indeed. Although in Bill's defense, if they had started making the movie, they would have had to stop because of this. No Ramis, no Ghostbusters III. End of line.
They crossed the beams, and now Egon is gone. I already miss Ramis and his sense of weirdness and comedy.
This is it. If they do make ghostbusters III, I hope they create a new character and not find another actor to play Egon.
I hope they don't. Ghostbusters was a classic, and Ghostbusters II was, well, a sequel.
At this point, especially without Ramis, there should not be a Ghost Busters III. I'm not saying the franchise should go away. They could do something like a TV series with a new cast of characters in the same universe, but no movies, no original cast members/characters, and no replacement actor playing Egon.

Well put. Ghostbusters are some of my favorite movies of the 80s. Love the brilliant Groundhog Day.
Feels weird, the unstoppable passing of time.

Theta_Sigma: I am sad to report Harold Ramis, also known as Egon from Ghostbusters has passed away due to complications from immune system based health issues. :( It seems all the good ones are dropping like flies this year.
Damn...bad news.
