Some of you might have read that H.R. Giger died a couple of weeks ago.

This is a little giveaway to honor his memory. If you don't know who Giger was I strongly recommend to find out, it'll be worth it.

Prizes are:
- Uru: Complete Chronicles
- The Zork Anthology

You can enter for ONE game only. The two winning names will emerge from total randomness on the 1st day of June.
I'm not entering but its great to see you doing this to honour his memory, nice one!
Also not in, but thanks and +1. Rest in peace, Mr. Giger.
Not in. It's a shame GOG doesn't carry Dark Seed. Would have been a great paring for this giveaway. Thanks for your generosity!
Phew! - for a moment there, I read the thread title as "RIP Giveaway" (you know, as in "RIP H.R. Giger") and was like "huh?".

What a lovely memorial gesture, nuuttiT!

IIRC, we had a thread about his demise on or around the day he passed away - here it is (in which you of course took part).

Not in.
The drawings and sculptures of H.R. Giger will forever live in the Aliens series!

I'm in for Zork Anthology.
Giger was the single biggest influence on me creatively in my life - since I was a small child in fact. I was gutted when I found out.
Thanks for the GA, but not in!

Unfortunately considering how thats gone... I cannot support your comment - particularly as a lot of stuff from Prometheus was actually taken from pre-prodution work Giger did on Dune before Lynch was handed the project.

However through the Aliens franchise (as well as Bladerunner, Species and a host of other popular films and other media), people will be discovering and exploring his work for generations to come! :)
Not in but +1 for the givaway and the tribute!

His work on the xenomorphs inspired me to have a crack at art when I was younger :) . I worked in a call centre and for a lot of the time you was just sat there so I started getting into making drawings of tentacle monsters eating planets and abstract daemony things and also build alien buildings/temples etc out of blue tac. In retrospect people must have thought I was a bit mental.....
In for Uru

+1 for the nice tribute, I remember his art well from Darkseed, probably the only aspect I liked about this game, shame it not on GOG.
Not In

I always liked the cover art for Brain Salad Surgery
not in but a +1 for you for raising this Topic again, kinda :)

Giger's work was mostly represented from the first 3 Alien movies. But you're right in that Prometheus was really a step backward.

IronArcturus:
Actually, in the third he did all of his design work, went to see the preview and they had used none of it. It was one of the things that broke his love of his own work - along with that final debacle! (WHY SCOTT?! WHYyyyyYYYYYY!?).

When my net stops being crappy I'll try and find you the interview - quite an insight into how much he hated it all - and what could have been otherwise.

In fact, if i remember correctly, the film splice had something to do with what was supposed to appear in alien 3... but not sure if it was inspired by or directly based upon... must go check!

Edit: that said I still think the atmosphere, setting and some of the characters / scenes from 3 were brilliant!

This. I only more recently discovered that H.R. Giger worked on many of the films I enjoy so much. Even with my hefty bit of ignorance I still recognized his name.
