I'm new to GoG and I'm requesting game recommendations from veteran gamers; if you can help me, it would be greatly appreciated!

I've been looking to play a specific type of game for a while and have not found many games that are similar or close to what I am looking for. If I could narrow the type of game I would like to play down to a few key points, it would be this:

- Tactical turn-based combat similar to Final Fantasy Tactics or Disgaea. Baldur's Gate pseudo turn-based combat is also acceptable.

- In-depth RPG-style character progression

- Detailed squad & homebase management which might include managing a "stable" of different characters

- Fantasy setting preferred.


The closest game I've found that means all of these requirements (excluding the fantasy bit) is Jagged Alliance 2. While I enjoy the game, I'm essentially hoping for a Jagged Alliance type game set in a fantasy world. I would prefer a PC game although, at this point in my search, I am willing to try anything!

Again, your help is really appreciated in recommending a good game!

On PlayStation I recommend Hoshigami, FF tactics was inspired on this game, another is Tactics Ogre my brothers like this game. on PC Agarest(the most Close to FF tactics on PC), FallOut (most close to Baldur`s Gate), Heroes 3 of Might and magic, Warlords IV are exelent option! :D

Would King's Bounty: The Legend be close to what you're looking for?

@sharp299 Thanks for the recommendation. I'll check out Hoshigami. I've played the Fallout series and Fallout Tactics is close, but not exactly what I'm looking for.

@RaggieRags: I've tried the King's Bounty series. I'm looking for something a little bit more personal. I would be more interested in a game where you managed a stable of characters, as opposed to generic troops. Thanks the same though!

Try Agarest then, Is a JRPG tactical anime stilish, every character has their own personallity, personally I liked. Tactic Ogre is similar too, Valkyria Chronicles 100% recommend, FireEmblem, X-COM everyone love it. :D

Age of Decadence is looking to be good on that department. Not complete yet, but check out some gameplay. Very much looking forward to getting a copy. ^^

Arcanum seems to fit most of your points. You can play both real time and turn-based, just like F:T. Lots of skills, lots of spells, lots of engineering - you shoud like it. Well, you can hire a squad and keep them happy so they'll follow you. Fantasy (magic, ogres, orcs, gnomes, wizard schools, necromancers and all that stuff) + steampunk (and conflict between magic and technology in the background).

X-com is closer to what you want than Jagged Alliance, but it's not fantasy and it's not on GOG.
