I've really had the misfortune of buying so many games on Steam, that now a lot of my gaming life is unfortunately tied to there service. I had a falling out and I don't like to deal with them anymore, but I can't do anything about it.

I would like to get the games on GoG that I already own on Steam, which isn't way too many games thankfully, but not have to rebuy so many of them a second time. I may have a solution though.

If a player can prove that they have a legitimate Steam account, via how GoG\CDProjekt used to identify my legitimate copy of the Steam based Witcher 2. And either make the games free to the user or slash prices on legitimate accounts in order to cope with the cost of maintenance\bandwidth.

It would either be this or try to pirate\have some copy protection free cracks on many of my single player games that I want to burn through.
See the feature wishlist.
What's in it for gog?

(each license cost them money)
Wow, somebody feels entitled to free stuff they don't deserve.

Too bad you "fell out" with Steam. Looks like you'll just have to suck it up and become friends again, then. Even if it's just for the awkward conversations when randomly meeting at the mall.

GOG is in the business of selling games.

As such, GOG would pay an agreed upon amount to the IP holder for every game they sell. Since your idea is to essentially get the games for nothing (or next to nothing) GOG would have to pay the entire cost of every game you receive.

Either that, or renegotiate *every* contract they have.

Who'd pay for all that time and effort ?

Or the cost of setting up and maintaining the database to keep track of who has what game on Steem ?.

Funny how these kinds of 'solutions' usually involve people getting something for nothing....

It would be nice to get everything I ever bought elsewhere added to my GOG account for free, but it's not feasible for the reasons Kezardin explained. It would also have the side-effect of encouraging GOG customers to stop buying from GOG and pay Steam instead because that would give us games on both accounts instead of just one, making the situation even worse.

That made me chuckle...

Sometimes Steam shows the signs of an abusive relationship.
