anjohl: It's like film snobs who talk about Felini this, and Bergman that, just because Criterion told them they were the pinnacle, or music snobs who extol the virtues of the Foo Fighters just because the singer is a kickass drummer from one of the most famous bands of the 90's. It's like people don't have their own opinions anymore, there is this massive groupthink, spawned and maintained by popular internet critics and sites, and while noone can pinpoint why exactly this status quo is preferable to any other, dissent from this dogma is met with instant ostracizing.
I don't know where this comes from but who cares about crap like that? Judge an individual by his action alone, not because his action happens to fall in line with a bunch of people that are prejudiced, ignorant or otherwise incapable of thier opinion.
FYI, it's not like enjoying Human Revolution over Deus Ex is so hipster or heterogenous or whatever you want to call it. There's loads of praise for it, alone, regardless of the fact that it happened to be in the Deus Ex series. Personally, I think both games have great merits and even Invisible War for its short comings is a rather interesting game altough drastically inferior to the other too (IMO).
Gazoinks: But look how it's evolved! Now it's about Deus Ex for some reason!
It's great, isn't it? I love it when threads derail on a forum where it's allowed. :)
I wonder what will be next? It's too early for Godwin's Law I presume.
