If you have earned something, having it taken away undeservedly is the perfect reason to complain.

I earned (most?) of my rep through my giveaways. Do you really think it is reasonable to expect me to host extra giveaways when I enter discussions where I am likely to loss rep to compensate for that?

If you need an indicator on how difficult it is to earn rep through the post-rating system, here's one: None of my posts revealing how the post rating system affects rep are high-rated. Apparently, that information is neither helpful enough or insightful enough (or just gets low-rated, apparently).

Taking away someone's rep is "fun" because they actually put effort into earning it, while damaging it is really easy. Why would it be less fun to be able to destroy something that had even more effort put into it?

No. But think about it: users with rep as high as yours are pretty rare, as earning that many points takes a lot of time and effort. Quite possibly, at the time the system was designed, it was more oriented on average users, who post occasionally and maybe help others sometimes (and indeed, newbies do notice rep changes and ask about it).

Considering nobody apparently expected the "-" button to be abused (or even just misused as a "hide this post" feature), either... it looks like user activity - both positive and negative - was grossly underestimated. We're talking about a forum where nobody knew that giveaway threads could fill entire pages. :)

I'm none of those things so be clear I'm not talking about myself but wonderful people get shit all the time in here. Just ask the guy who got massively derepped for asking how to install and play his games.

Also I can name some people that willfully commit acts that they see as unjust. They do it and they get a kick out of it.

Look - he posted out of nowhere, provided next to no information, kept his posts to a single sentence... and finally popped in to announce that the issue had been resolved. No insight on WHAT the issue was, in what environment (hardware, software, operating system, circumstances, error messages) it occurred... Hell - he never mentioned HOW it had gotten solved either; he merely ended all of this with a quip. I refrained from voting either way until things cleared up, but the guy was suspicious at worst, neutral at best - we can't say whether he was nice, intelligent, etc. Given the history of belligerent posters who wouldn't listen and whined about wanting their money back, the treatment might have been a bit harsh, but not outright unfair.
It wasn't a good post getting crushed.

Hell - maybe it's the antidepressants you've mentioned (assuming you were serious)? I have no idea how that can precisely affect a man, but I assume in reducing anxiety they may also shred restraint and the sense of inappropriateness...

I got the impression that you received a somewhat hostel response just for trying to figure out what was going on by the numbers. I was a bit baffled that there were people that really didn't want to know, or didn't want you finding out. Seems like anyone that is even remotely interested in being fair and honest would be, at the very least, supportive of the effort regardless of the result.

Ubivis had a load of his his posts (as in, every post he made in a bunch of topics spanning 8 months) low-rated well after the fact. Do you know what he did to deserve that because I would like to know..

Maybe someone thinks there is an achievement to unlock for downreping another user 100 times.

I guess it would be time to implement some trivial mechanisms that would prevent the most obvious ways an individual can abuse the system. You have my faith and support, for what little it's worth.

Massively derepped? You are quite taken by hyperbole aren't you. Just like you claiming to lose 10 points a day. It simply does not happen. Its been said time and time again you can only gain or lose 5 per day. Its been explained to you time and time again why you lose rep and why you rub people the wrong way but you continue to do it and then complain time and time and time and time again that you lost 22 points in the last hour when you weren't even online and couldn't have possibly done anything to cause to lose 38 points and how you'll be at one star by the end of the day if people keep unfairly coming at you with multiple accounts and abusing the rep system solely to make you look bad. No, you continue to make yourself bad - take responsibility for it and quit blaming others.

Notice how rep was never this big a problem until you showed up. Now pretty much every single rep thread has you as the focal point and if it doesn't, you make yourself the focal point. People seem to think its this roving band of rep abusers (or one rep abuser with 300 accounts who has it out for you). Again no...your behavior, your posting style (not always but way too freaking often) is just annoying to come across in almost every thread people happen to read.

Its really not hard to figure out why and how people get derepped. Honestly it isn't. Pick any post, in any thread at any time and point it out to me - I'll tell you exactly why that post got derepped. Lets turn it into a forum game. People want to blame it on trolls, on abusers, on one person. Its not. I strongly feel a lot of people (different people mind you) are sick of some of the current behaviors being exhibited on GOG over the last 6 or so months and that's all there is to it. Not some gigantic conspiracy to derep tinye or anyone else who feels persecuted the way you do.

Lastly, feel free to "name some people that willfully commit acts that they see as unjust". Point them out. Lets see if your claims are true and just what all that is about. You keep bringing this up but I've not seen it outside of your alleged accusations. Or maybe its just some more of that hyperbole.
