Protip: down-votes are a "symptom", not the "sickness". Even if the entire rep system disappeared overnight, people would still dislike douchebags. The difference is that currently we possess a button that, with others agreeing, sends a clear "You are a douchebag, please shut your mouth" message (among other things. Yes, it is a versatile tool) without individuals having to explicitly post such messages.

To say that rep is pointless would be true... except for the fact more than half of the things that go on in the forums usually require a certain amount of rep (giveaways, clubs, etc)..

Entirely normal posts (or even beautiful ones in the case where you posted a song) getting downrepped. You must have pissed of some very vengeful people who are now on a crusade against you. Like they were against tinyE a while ago. It is childish, really, but perhaps you should just sit it out. That game of 'let's downrep the victim of the month' will get boring at some point and then they, whoever they are, will stop. It's not as if you can buy anything with your rep points and you have a large reputation buffer, so there is no chance that you will fall below the 'giveaway entry' restrictions.
Bull's-eye. Rep points keep accumulating anyway, so some really have to work on it to get the rep anything near 0, I think.

I am not fully sure why some are so angry at Roman, apparently I don't hang around in the right threads where Roman aggravates some people. Is it because he complains about EA? Or does he even complain about it?

Whatever. Complaining about your rep only makes it worse, because it proves you care and the downreppers are not active to no effect.

( do not remember the scale.... 1 star < 25 rep, 2 stars <150 rep, 3 stars <500 rep, 4 stars <1000 rep... or something like this)

If anything, I agree with htown1980 who said that, as it is, Roman's rep is still too high. I do not find the downvotes offensive, I find them JUST. I find Roman offensive, ever since the stolen review debacle (which, if memory serves right, was around the time there was a review contest... Though I'm not sure). What he posts is either short and meaningless crap, declarations of hubris, blind and narrow-minded hatred or dissatisfaction with everything and everyone around around him. It's a pretty clear-cut case. If he posts something helpful, smart and insightful, I'll be the first guy to upvote that (if I get the chance to be first).
What you are missing here is pretty simple: he dislikes getting down-voted yet fails to acknowledge the REASON people are doing this to him and to change his behavior as to avoid this outcome in the future. He's bashing his head against a brick wall and demanding that it not hurt the next time - even if you pump him full of painkillers, that's still a moronic thing to do.
He demands the right to act like a douchebag and for others not to have the right to jointly point it out to him.

Well a tranny is a tranny, it's a diminutive, if someone is looking to get offended where there is no offence mentioned that's entirely their problem. Any word can be offensive if used with the right tone or context. What if the KKK starts using "transvestite" or "transsexual" in an offensive way too, should we ban those words too? I can even say "Hey jew" and be offensive, does that mean we should ban jew?

This is entirely off topic and I've talked about this enough in the post you mentioned so I'd rather we not derail this to that moronic topic again, if you don't agree with what I've said then go ahead and disagree, I won't mind.

No one is more guilty of moaning about rep than me, I've become famous for it and likely lost a few friends in here because of. I have come to the realization that there are few things more annoying than bitching about it and for a while firmly believed that if I stopped whining it would stop dropping. Oh how wrong I was, and not to kiss Roman's ass, but he is a way better example than myself.

Less that two days after I vowed never to complain about it again, I was getting low ratings for among other things talking about food, I shit you not. I no longer care about the low rating but it's very occurrence over mention of food, and there was a fruit punch reference in there that got hit, is clear evidence that I am being hit not by people who are annoyed by my bitching but rather by my posting period.

Roman is a much better example because this thread is the FIRST ever time in all my time here since December that I EVER seen him mention rep much less complain about it. If you want to chalk up residual action in my case fine, but it doesn't add up here.

So what you're saying is you have this personal agenda against him? I get that you can't stand the guy but isn't there anything else you'd rather be doing than getting all worked up over some guy on a forum? I've seen him talk shit but I've seen a lot of other people do it too, and he's the one getting the short end of the stick. And what about those posts that say nothing offensive at all that are still downrepped? this is just mass hating and whoever is doing it is being a bigger asswhipe than roman.

Your problem (?) I think is that you are a bit like marmite, people either love or hate your posts....

You have a tendency to make everything into a joke, and some do not like that - as everything do not need made a joke of. It is OK to have a conversation without jokes in them, and a joke made out of it can be distracting and derail the conversation.

(disclaimer - I have never downrepped you (I think). I rarely do and I always let people know when I do)

I know you never have. I've got a feeling that the people who hit me have never actually even spoken/posted to me but that's beside the point.

YES YES YES I say a lot of shitty things, I make jokes when I shouldn't, I'm crude rude and socially unacceptable, and I admit as much, and if all of my post that fit that category (75% do; a ballpark figure) was dereppd I'd understand, but I also lose points for saying hello, asking about a game, commenting on the weather, agreeing with a point that hasn't been derepped. Same for Roman. A lot of his post are beyond crude (and I love all of them) but that shouldn't mean he deserves to get hit for EVERY post he makes.

Again and I can't stress this enough, I no longer care about it, I'm just asking for people to admit that this crap happens. I did care, I don't anymore, and if I wake up tomorrow at -200 I'll probably notice it and maybe even joke about it, but it won't stop be from continuing to spend all day in here and be my normal jovial immature self.

Does it need to be clever? It certainly isn't replying to anything clever.
I can come up with scenarios in which the little red minus button is not offensive. Let's say I start a thread called "misogyny" and filled it with hatred for women. Pushing that red minus button for that post isn't offensive in the least. I'm surprised you apparently couldn't think of any non-offensive uses, since you just talked about words not having an inherent hostility. I just figured you'd apply that to actions as well.

What indeed would happen if KKK started using those words in an offensive way? It's a great argument. I can't really tell, is it some sort of a slippery slope? If I stop doing this thing that hurts other people I will have to stop doing all the things because they might end up hurting people. Are you one of those people that doesn't keep a safety distance when driving because if I slow down to keep a longer distance, some other car will get in front of me and I'll have to slow down again to keep a longer distance and in the end I'll never get to my destination?
